2D Motion Designer / After Effects Animator for Mental Health Instagram Reels I’m a psychiatrist creating educational mental health content for Instagram and TikTok, and I’m looking for an experienced 2D motion designer / After Effects animator** to help me test a new animated short-form video format. For the first project, I’d like to create one approximately 30-second animated Reel explaining TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)** in a way that feels visually compelling, emotionally engaging, and easy for a general audience to understand. I will provide: * A finished script * A reference Instagram Reel * The educational/medical content * Brand direction as needed The reference Reel is meant as inspiration for the pacing, emotional arc, storytelling, and overall quality of animation. I am not looking to copy it. Our video should use original visuals, animation, characters, and creative concepts. What I'm looking for Someone who can take the script and reference and bring their own creative visual interpretation to it not simply animate a detailed shot list. A few performance elements I’m thinking about are: * A strong opening hook that immediately creates curiosity * Pacing that keeps the story moving without feeling rushed * Visual dynamics that help maintain attention throughout the Reel * A clear setup and satisfying payoff/reveal * Making a medical topic feel simple and accessible rather than overly clinical These are creative considerations rather than rigid rules. I want the animator to have room to bring their own storytelling ideas to the project. Skills Strong experience with: * 2D motion graphics / animation * Adobe After Effects * Visual storytelling * Animated explainer content * Short-form social media content Experience with healthcare, mental health, wellness, or educational animation is a plus, but strong storytelling and animation quality are more important to me than previous medical work. First Project This will be a single ~30-second paid pilot. If we work well together and the format performs well, I’d be interested in developing additional animated Reels around topics such as TMS, Spravato, MeRT, and mental health more broadly.
