C# / .NET Developer with Interactive Brokers API - Code Review and Diagnostic of Trading Application
Worldwide
I own a C# trading automation application built over several years by a previous developer who is no longer available. The codebase is complete and was previously running live with real users. It has not been run for approximately 6 months and I need to establish its current state before commissioning any further work. This engagement is the first step in handing the project over. I am looking for a developer to take ownership of ongoing maintenance and development, and this code review is how we both find out whether that is a good fit. If the review goes well, the next stage is restoring the application to operational status, followed by ongoing paid work as I develop it further. I am hiring one person for this review, and I would rather pay properly for continuity than rotate through contractors. To be clear about how I will scope the follow-on work: your written report should include hour estimates per item, and the restoration will be quoted fixed price against those estimates. Application overview: - C# / .NET [version], [desktop application / web application] - Interactive Brokers integration via [TWS API / IB Gateway / Client Portal API] - Automated and semi-automated order placement based on user-defined price levels - User authentication and subscription billing integration already built - Full source in a private GitHub repository that I own Scope of this engagement: - Review the codebase structure, architecture, and overall quality, and give me your honest assessment of what you would be taking on - Get the solution building from source on a clean environment - Connect it to an IBKR paper trading account and attempt a full order cycle: place, modify, cancel - Identify what is broken, with specific reference to IBKR API version changes, deprecated endpoints, dependency or package issues, and configuration problems - Produce a written report covering: architecture overview, current build status, what works, what is broken and why, what is incomplete or stubbed, anything you consider a risk in the order handling or connection layer, and an estimated hours range to restore each broken item - Provide build and run instructions written for someone who did not write the code Deliverable: the written report and the build instructions. If the software is broken for some reason, working software is not expected at this stage. Estimated effort: 8 to 12 hours. Requirements: - Demonstrable prior work with the Interactive Brokers API or similar API. Please describe a specific project, not a general claim - Strong C# / .NET - Comfortable inheriting an unfamiliar codebase with no original author available - Clear written English. The report is the product - Availability for ongoing work over the coming months Working arrangement: You will be added as a collaborator on my repository. The repository and all credentials remain mine. Work is done against a paper trading account only. A short NDA will be signed before repository access. Please write READ IT on your application
