NYC Crew Roster: Commercial Gaffers (Lighting / Grip)

ALMOST REAL is a NYC-based boutique creative studio and visual production company. We are expanding our local freelance crew roster of skilled Gaffers and Key Grips for upcoming commercial campaigns, brand content, and high-end event coverage in New York City. We are looking for seasoned NYC lighting professionals who understand cinematic setups, clean commercial rigging, and location lighting to join our go-to crew list for upcoming shoots. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS: Lighting Execution: Work alongside our Lead DP to build, modify, and execute high-end lighting setups (cinematic contrast, soft commercial lighting, location control). Grip & Lighting Package: Must own or have direct access to a standard lighting/grip package (Aputure, Nanlite, Asteras, C-Stands, diffusion, flags) or a Grip Van. On-Set Efficiency: Fast, safe, and clean rigging in diverse locations across NYC (studios, lofts, hotels, outdoor streets). Location: Must be based in the Greater NYC Metropolitan Area. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Please submit your proposal with the following details: Portfolio showcasing past work/lighting Standard Rates: Your Full-Day Rate (10h) and Half-Day Rate (5h) (Labor rate vs. Kit/Van rate if applicable). Primary Gear / Van Package: List your lighting fixtures, modifiers, and grip gear options. We will review all applications and add qualified Gaffers directly to our active production roster for direct booking on upcoming shoots.
