# Native German Translator for Public-Sector Drupal RFP ## About the Project We are looking for an experienced **Native German Translator** to support our team with an upcoming **public-sector Drupal RFP (Request for Proposal)**. The project involves translating and reviewing proposal-related materials from **English into German**. Since the content is intended for a public-sector audience, accuracy, professionalism, consistency, and appropriate terminology are extremely important. We are looking for someone who is not only fluent in German but can also understand **technical and digital terminology**, particularly around websites, Drupal, accessibility, digital services, and software development. ## Responsibilities The selected translator will be responsible for: - Translating RFP and proposal-related content from **English to German**. - Reviewing existing German translations and improving them where required. - Ensuring translations are **natural, accurate, and professionally written**, rather than word-for-word translations. - Maintaining the original meaning, intent, tone, and structure of the source material. - Translating technical terminology accurately and consistently. - Maintaining consistency in terminology across different sections of the proposal. - Translating content related to: - Drupal CMS - Website development - Web technologies - Digital transformation - Accessibility and inclusive design - User experience and user interfaces - Software development - Hosting and infrastructure - Security - Content management systems - Public-sector digital services - Project management and implementation - Reviewing translated documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall readability. - Identifying terminology or sentences that may require clarification from the project team. - Ensuring the final German content reads as if it was originally written by a professional German-speaking writer. - Meeting agreed deadlines and communicating promptly regarding project progress or questions. ## Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: - Is a **native German speaker** or has equivalent professional-level German proficiency. - Has excellent written and spoken English. - Has demonstrated experience translating **English to German**. - Has excellent German grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and writing skills. - Can understand technical concepts and translate them accurately into German. - Has strong attention to detail. - Can maintain consistent terminology throughout a large document. - Understands the difference between literal translation and **professional localization**. - Can adapt the tone of the content for a **formal/public-sector audience**. - Is comfortable working with detailed technical documentation and RFP materials. - Can work independently while communicating effectively with the project team. ## Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following: - Technical translation - IT/software translation - Website or CMS-related translation - Drupal or other CMS platforms - Government/public-sector projects - Accessibility-related content - Digital transformation projects - Software development documentation - RFPs, RFQs, tenders, bids, or proposal documentation - Localization of websites or digital products **Experience with Drupal is helpful but not mandatory.** A strong technical translation background is more important. ## Quality Expectations Because this translation will be used as part of a **public-sector RFP**, quality is particularly important. The final translation should: - Be grammatically correct. - Use natural and professional German. - Preserve the meaning of the English source. - Use appropriate German technical terminology. - Maintain consistency throughout the document. - Avoid machine-translation-style wording. - Follow the tone and formatting of the original content. - Be suitable for review and submission as part of a formal proposal. We may ask the selected candidate to complete a **short sample translation** before beginning the full assignment so that we can evaluate language quality, technical understanding, and writing style. ## Project Scope The exact volume of content will depend on the RFP requirements. The project may include a combination of: - RFP/proposal sections - Technical descriptions - Company/project information - Service descriptions - Team and capability descriptions - Accessibility information - Technical specifications - Project methodology - Case studies - Supporting documentation - Tables and other proposal content The translator may also be asked to review previously translated sections to ensure consistency across the complete proposal. ## Working Arrangement This is a **remote, project-based opportunity through Upwork**. We will provide the source material and relevant instructions. The selected translator will work directly with our team and may be required to communicate with us regarding terminology, translation decisions, or clarification of specific technical content.
