Ongoing ios app manual QA testing and bug reports (6hrs/wk recurring)
Worldwide
I’m looking for an experienced manual iOS QA tester for an ongoing part-time engagement testing a react native mobile app, for now focused on ios users. The app is being built right now and in early stages, not yet in the hands of users, but soon it will be. All testing would be done via Testflight and we are shipping little changes and updates every day right now in development. The app is catered towards parents and families to manage their day to day lives and involves things like calendars, to do lists, AI assistants, email syncing with google, memories, etc. The role will average 6–8 hours per week, normally spread across 3–4 separate sessions of about two hours. The exact days and times are flexible around your other commitments, if you had a request for a specific schedule that works best for you. What matters to me is that your testing regularly spread out across the week. 6-8 hours on a single day is too much, but also going 4 days without any testing is too long of a gap. I need regular, small periods of testing for 2 hours at a time. You must personally own and have continuous access to two physical iPhones released within the last three generations: - One standard-size iPhone - One Max-size iPhone I'm looking for an individual freelancer only. I don't want an agency, team member, subcontractors, or swapping testers. You’ll need to create several Gmail test accounts and use them to operate a realistic fake family across both devices to mimic using the app as family members. Assignments will be managed asynchronously in Linear and may include targeted goals, detailed test scripts, or open-ended exploratory testing. If an assignment is blocked, you’ll document the blocker and continue with items from a standing exploratory-testing backlog. After every session, you’ll provide a short summary and create one Linear issue per bug. Reports must include exact reproduction steps, expected versus actual behavior, device and iOS version, app build, account or family member used, frequency, and clear screenshots or screen recordings. Strong written communication is essential. Retesting fixes will occasionally be requested. I'm willing to begin with a paid one-week trial and see how it goes. Success will be judged by reliability, judgment, coverage, and report quality—not simply the number of bugs found. All testing would synthetic data, and the app and product materials must remain confidential. Please reply with: - Your exact two iPhone models and iOS versions - Relevant manual mobile-QA experience - A sample bug report/example - Your hourly rate - Confirmation that the scheduling pattern I'm looking for would work for you, with an idea of what type of weekly schedule might make sense on your side My intention is to have this be an ongoing thing, likely for many months. I'm looking to find the right person to keep working with durably.
