Online QuickBooks Online Bookkeeper for Construction Company

Accurate Cabinet Refacing Co./ACR Remodeling & Construction is a family-owned cabinetry and residential remodeling company serving Southwest Florida since 1977. We are seeking an experienced independent bookkeeper to replace our longtime 1099 bookkeeper, who is retiring. This is a part-time, ongoing engagement—not a one-time bookkeeping cleanup. We are looking for someone dependable and detail-oriented who can learn our existing system, maintain accurate records, meet recurring deadlines, and work independently while communicating with our management team and CPA when questions arise. Responsibilities include: Review and categorize bank and credit-card transactions in QuickBooks Online Match transactions with receipts, invoices, vendor bills, checks, deposits, and supporting documentation Assign expenses to the correct general ledger accounts, customers, projects, and jobs Track material purchases, subcontractor expenses, overhead, customer deposits, owner transactions, and other construction-related activity Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and applicable balance-sheet accounts monthly Identify duplicate, missing, misclassified, or unreconciled transactions Maintain accurate vendor and subcontractor records Collect and organize W-9s and track subcontractor payments for year-end 1099 preparation Maintain a clear digital audit trail and organized supporting documents Assist with accounts payable and payment tracking Support customer invoicing and accounts receivable as needed Prepare or review monthly profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, and job-cost reports Provide clean, organized records to our CPA for tax preparation and year-end reporting Communicate discrepancies, missing information, and bookkeeping concerns promptly Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company, customer, vendor, and financial information Required qualifications: At least three years of professional bookkeeping experience Strong, current QuickBooks Online experience Experience completing bank and credit-card reconciliations Solid understanding of general ledger accounts, balance-sheet accounts, and financial statements Experience maintaining subcontractor records and preparing information for 1099s Ability to distinguish direct job costs from company overhead Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication, and follow-through Experience working with U.S.-based businesses and accounting practices Professional references from current or former bookkeeping clients Preferred qualifications: Previous bookkeeping experience for a contractor, remodeler, cabinet company, homebuilder, or construction-related business Experience with QuickBooks customer- and project-level job costing Experience working with a Florida S corporation QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification Familiarity with cost-plus construction accounting Experience coordinating with an outside CPA Engagement details: Ongoing, part-time independent contractor engagement Primarily remote Southwest Florida applicants are preferred, but qualified U.S.-based applicants will be considered Flexible working schedule with agreed-upon weekly and monthly deadlines Hourly budget: $25 per hour, depending on qualifications and relevant construction experience Transition assistance will be available from our retiring bookkeeper A confidentiality agreement and service agreement will be required
