Part-Time Full-Stack Developer (Python/Celery) — Insurance Rating Platform

We're building a multi-carrier comparative rating engine and middleware layer that sits between agent-facing tools and legacy carrier systems (starting with a SOAP/XML auto insurance carrier integration). It's built around a carrier-agnostic canonical data model, an async task queue (Celery/Redis) for parallel rating calls across carriers, and a per-carrier adapter pattern so new carriers can be added without touching the core system. What you'd work on: Building carrier adapter integrations (translating between our internal data model and carrier-specific XML/SOAP or JSON APIs) Contributing to the async orchestration layer (Celery/Redis: task queues, retry logic, circuit breakers) Backend API work (Python) Frontend work on agent-facing UI Working from clearly written Asana tickets with acceptance criteria — we document requirements thoroughly before handing off work Tech stack: Backend: Python, Celery, Redis, Pydantic Data formats: JSON (internal), XML/SOAP (carrier integrations) PM tool: Asana (tickets, comments, and file attachments are our main communication channel) What we're looking for: Solid, demonstrable full-stack experience — Python backend + modern JS frontend Comfortable working async and part-time — clear written communication matters more to us than real-time availability Able to read a detailed spec/ticket and ask good clarifying questions when something's ambiguous Nice to have (not required): experience with insurance industry data (ACORD XML), SOAP API integrations, or async task queue architectures
