I am a North Carolina estate-planning attorney with a growing virtual practice seeking an experienced, detail-oriented estate planning paralegal for an ongoing remote role. This is not a generic legal-assistant or administrative-VA position. I am looking for someone with genuine trusts-and-estates production experience who can help move straightforward estate-planning matters from completed intake through draft preparation, client review, signing coordination, and closeout. The role will begin at approximately 5–10 hours per week, with the potential to grow as the practice grows. I value accuracy, good judgment, clear written communication, and someone who enjoys creating order in a client-centered practice. What You’ll Do * Review client intake questionnaires and documents; identify missing, inconsistent, or unclear information * Prepare concise summaries of family structure, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, assets, and planning instructions for attorney review * Send targeted client follow-up emails using approved templates; track outstanding information and documents * Assemble first-draft estate-planning document packages after attorney direction, including revocable trusts, wills, durable financial powers of attorney, health-care powers of attorney, living wills, certifications of trust, and related documents * Perform detailed mechanical quality control: names, addresses, dates, fiduciary succession, percentages, cross-references, signature blocks, and consistency across the package * Incorporate attorney-approved revisions and prepare polished review and signing copies * Prepare review packages, keep matter records current, and help track client status from engagement through signing * Coordinate mobile notaries/witnesses and prepare signing checklists * Assist with post-signing closeout, including scanned documents, closing correspondence, and deed/funding follow-up * Help refine checklists, templates, and workflows as the practice grows What You Will Not Do * Provide legal advice or make substantive legal/planning recommendations to clients * Select dispositive provisions or make legal judgment calls without attorney approval * Communicate legal conclusions to clients Any substantive legal or planning question will be escalated to the attorney. Required Experience * At least 3 years of hands-on estate planning, trusts-and-estates, probate, or trust-administration paralegal experience * Experience preparing or assembling estate-planning documents, especially revocable trusts, wills, POAs, health-care documents, certifications of trust, amendments, and related ancillary documents * Excellent proofreading and document-quality-control skills * Comfortable reviewing detailed intake information and spotting gaps before documents are drafted * Strong, polished, client-friendly written communication * Experience working remotely and managing tasks independently * Reliable, responsive, organized, and highly discreet with confidential information * Willing to sign a confidentiality and data-security agreement before receiving access to client information * U.S.-based and authorized to work in the United States Strong Preferences * Experience supporting a small or virtual estate-planning firm * Experience with North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Texas, or comparable state estate-planning practices * Familiarity with Westlaw Form Builder or similar document-assembly systems * Experience with deeds, trust funding follow-up, and/or estate-planning signing logistics * Experience using MyCase, DecisionVault, paor comparable legal-practice software Engagement Details * Remote, ongoing contractor engagement initially * Approximately 5–10 hours per week to start; potential to increase * Flexible schedule, but timely communication and dependable turnaround are important * Target rate: $20–$35/hour, depending on directly relevant estate-planning experience * Please include your hourly rate and availability in your proposal
