Part-Time Squarespace Web Developer Company: middleman Job Type: Part-Time, Contract (Upwork) Location: Remote About Us middleman is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Squarespace Web Developer to join our team on a part-time, ongoing basis. We need someone who can build, customize, and maintain Squarespace websites with clean design and strong technical execution. Role Overview We're seeking a part-time Squarespace developer who can take design concepts and turn them into polished, fully functional websites. You'll work directly with our team to build new sites, update existing ones, and troubleshoot issues as they come up. This is an ongoing role with flexible hours, ideal for someone who wants steady, recurring work. Responsibilities Build and customize Squarespace websites from wireframes and mockups in Figma Implement custom CSS/JavaScript (Code Injection) to achieve designs beyond native Squarespace capabilities Set up and configure e-commerce functionality (products, checkout, shipping, taxes) where needed Ensure sites are responsive, mobile-optimized, and cross-browser compatible Implement on-page SEO best practices (meta tags, alt text, site structure, sitemaps) Integrate third-party tools and plugins (forms, booking systems, email marketing, analytics, etc.) Troubleshoot bugs, layout issues, and functionality problems on existing sites Set up domain connections, DNS records, and email forwarding as needed Communicate clearly on project timelines, blockers, and progress Maintain and update sites on an ongoing basis as new requests come in Requirements Proven experience building and customizing websites on Squarespace (portfolio or live site examples required) Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for custom code injection Experience with responsive design principles Familiarity with Squarespace's built-in SEO tools and best practices Ability to work independently, manage time well, and meet deadlines Strong written communication skills in English Comfortable using collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Google Drive, Loom, project management software) Available for a set number of hours per week (to be discussed) with reasonably overlapping availability for check-ins Nice to Have Experience with Squarespace 7.1 Fluent with graphic design tools ( Figma Adobe tools) Experience with content layout Prior experience working with agencies or as a freelance contractor on Upwork How to Apply Please submit: A brief note on your experience with Squarespace specifically Links to 2-3 live Squarespace websites you've built or customized Your availability (hours/week) and hourly rate We're looking to fill this role quickly and will prioritize candidates with strong Squarespace portfolios and clear communication.
