Part-Time WordPress/WooCommerce Developer (Custom Plugins, Logistics & API Integrations) Company Description: Clublender is a US market leader in the golf equipment rental space, driven by innovation and a commitment to exceptional service. We operate a custom-built, e-commerce-driven rental platform with a uniquely complex technical stack for a company of our size. We are seeking an experienced, self-driven developer to join our team on a part-time, contract basis to support our core development efforts. Job Description & Team Context: Our software development is currently spearheaded by two dedicated contract developers. Because our platform is actively evolving and scaling, we are adding a third developer to the team. Your primary focus will be reducing the reactive bug-fix burden, maintaining critical integrations, and helping the team transition from reactive fixes to planned improvements. Our e-commerce foundation is WordPress and WooCommerce, but it relies heavily on custom PHP plugin development (hosted on GitHub) for proprietary booking, multi-hub fulfillment logic, and inventory availability. Roles and Responsibilities: - Support & Maintenance: Work alongside our existing developers to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve ongoing technical issues (e.g., shipping logic bugs, sync issues). - Integration Maintenance: Maintain the reliability of business-critical third-party integrations (UPS, ShipStation REST API, Stripe, JustCall SMS, HelpScout, and Vouched ID verification) as these services evolve. - Scale & Automation Support: Assist the team with process automation, operational tooling, and the ongoing refinement of technical processes that support the inventory management and fulfillment systems that support multi-hub operations). - Performance & Infrastructure: Monitor WooCommerce performance and assist with server-side caching adjustments (Redis via W3 Total Cache) and database integrity. - Project Tracking: Collaborate with the team using Trello for task and project management. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). - At least 5 years of experience in web development with strong, hands-on operational expertise in PHP, WordPress, and WooCommerce. - Custom Plugin Development: Proven experience working inside a custom, proprietary plugin environment—not just configuring off-the-shelf tools. - API Integrations: Robust experience working with and troubleshooting modern REST APIs (experience with ShipStation, Stripe, or communication APIs is highly valued). - Git Workflows: Strong familiarity with Git-based version control and team workflows. - Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills under real-world pressure. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bonus Qualifications: - Familiarity with logistics, shipping, or e-commerce fulfillment systems (e.g., RocketShipIt, UPS API). - Experience with Redis caching (including TTL object caching) and database maintenance/regeneration. - Experience with server maintenance (cron jobs, Bash, MySQL). - Knowledge of Python. - Familiarity with the WooCommerce Bookings (WC Bookings) plugin. Engagement Details & Location: - Availability: Candidates must be available to work during Pacific Time Zone hours. - Hours: We anticipate starting with approximately 4 hours per week at the beginning of the engagement while we get accustomed to each other's workflow preferences. If the fit is right, this role has the potential to expand. How to Apply: If you're passionate about diving into complex codebases, eager to solve real operational problems, and want to support a high-performing, collaborative team, we’d love to hear from you! Please apply with your resume and a brief note detailing your experience with custom PHP/WooCommerce plugin development and third-party REST APIs.
