Part-time Community Outreach Specialist — Help Grow an Invite-Only Social Network (15-20 hrs/week)

Summary

About the Project We're working on Chirpper (chirpper.com), a small invite-only social network with a structurally novel position: everyone is anonymous, but everyone is accountable. Every member is vouched in by an existing member, and every account is connected to a visible chain of who-invited-whom. You don't share your real name, email, or phone -- but if you invite a bad actor, your own standing on the network takes the hit. Accountability is built into the social graph, not enforced by a moderation team.Reddit gives you anonymity with no accountability (burner accounts, brigading, raids). Real-name platforms give you accountability with no privacy. Chirpper is the only platform that gives you both at once. The platform is built and live. I'm focused on careful, human-by-human growth rather than mass marketing. I need someone to help me find the right people to invite. What You'll Do Your job is research and outreach drafting — not posting on the platform, not running my accounts. Specifically: Spend 1.5–2 hours daily browsing communities (Reddit, Mastodon, Hacker News, Discord servers, niche forums) where people are actively discussing topics relevant to Chirpper: frustration with bots and AI-generated content, dead internet theory, leaving mainstream social media, online community-building, privacy-focused social platforms, accountability vs. anonymity online. Identify 5–10 real humans per day who are voicing the specific frustrations Chirpper solves. Not bots, not throwaway accounts, not people just venting. People whose recent posts or comments suggest they'd genuinely value a small, anonymous-but-accountable network. For each candidate, draft a short, personalized outreach message (2–4 sentences) that references the specific thing they said and offers them an invite. Templates are fine as a starting structure, but every message must be personalized to the individual. What I'm Measuring: You send the DMs yourself, from your own Reddit / Mastodon / Discord / etc. accounts. You don't need access to my accounts and I won't be in the loop on every message. What I do need: daily, send me the links to every comment, DM, or post you sent out that day. A simple list in a shared Google Doc is fine — link + which community + a one-line note on who you were responding to. I'll review them periodically, especially in your first two weeks. If your messaging is landing well, I'll mostly stay out of your way. If something's off-tone or off-target, I'll send you specific feedback so you can adjust. Think of it as coaching, not micromanagement. My goal is to get you calibrated fast so you can work independently. You'll also get your own Chirpper account, and the invites you send out will be yours — meaning the people you bring in become part of your TrustChain. That's the structurally honest setup: you're vouching for them, your standing reflects who you invite well. Who I'm Looking For Native or near-native written English. Your drafts need to sound like a real human, not a template. Strong intuition for online communities — you've spent real time on Reddit, Discord, or similar platforms and can tell the difference between a genuine post and a karma-farming one. Patient and observation-oriented. This is research work, not hustle work. Reliable daily availability. The work is small in any single day but compounds across weeks. Nice to Have Existing familiarity with privacy-focused platforms (Mastodon, Lemmy, Bluesky, etc.) Interest in social media, online community design, or anti-bot/anti-AI content discussions Experience with light competitive or audience research How to Apply In your proposal, please include: 1. One specific online community you think would be a strong fit for Chirpper, and why in 2–3 sentences. (I'm using this to gauge your instinct — there are no wrong answers, only thoughtful vs. generic ones.) 2. A sample outreach DM (3–4 sentences) you'd write to someone who posted "I'm so tired of every comment section being half bots now." Write it as if you were sending it yourself. 3. A note on your daily availability and timezone. Skip the generic "I'm a hard worker" intro. I'll read every proposal that follows the format above. I won't read the ones that don't.
