Permit Plan Set Drafter — Solar, EV Charger, Battery Storage, Generator & HVAC (Ongoing Work)
Worldwide
JOB DESCRIPTION We're a fast-growing permit plan set company serving solar, EV charger, battery storage, generator, and HVAC installers across the U.S. Customers order online, we deliver AHJ-ready plan sets in 24–48 hours. We're looking for a reliable drafter (or small team) who can handle our order volume across all five verticals, with fast, accurate turnaround and clean, permit-ready output. This is potential ongoing work — we're validating vendors now with paid test orders, with the goal of building a long-term working relationship with 2–3 reliable drafters who can handle real volume. SCOPE OF WORK — WHAT WE NEED YOU TO PRODUCE Please review each vertical below and confirm in your proposal whether you can produce every listed deliverable. WHAT WE NEED DRAFTED (pick any/all that fit your experience): Please reply with the total hours per job vertical below! Very Important. Example: it takes us 1.5-2 HRs for Solar Plan Sets etc. Solar (Residential PV) — site plan, roof layout, single-line diagram, structural/electrical details EV Charger — load calc, panel schedule, one-line diagram (Level 2 & bi-directional) Battery Storage (ESS) — site plan, single-line diagram, UL 9540 documentation Generator (Standby) — site plan, one-line diagram with transfer switch, load calcs HVAC — Manual J/S/D — load calculation, equipment sizing, duct design (different skillset — load calc software, not CAD drafting) You do not need to be able to produce all five verticals to apply — tell us honestly which ones you can do well. We'd rather have a specialist who's excellent at 2–3 verticals than someone stretched thin across all five. Please confirm separately: do you include structural load/attachment calculations and elevation views (as required by AHJ) as part of your standard solar deliverable, or are these separate line items for you? ENGINEER (PE) STAMP CAPABILITY — SEPARATE QUESTION, ANSWER HONESTLY AS WE OFFER OR CLIENTS. We're separately building a relationship with a licensed Professional Engineer for electrical and structural stamp review on select orders — this is NOT part of the standard drafting scope above, and we already have that piece in progress with a different vendor. If you personally hold an active PE license, or work directly for a licensed engineering firm and can provide verifiable, named-engineer stamping (not a "quoted through an associate" arrangement), tell us in your proposal: which state(s) you're licensed in, your license number (so we can verify it independently on the state licensing board's public lookup), and your typical turnaround for a stamped review. We will not consider stamp arrangements that can't be independently verified through a public state licensing board. If you're not personally licensed and can't point us to a specific, named, verifiable engineer, please don't offer stamping as part of your proposal — drafting-only proposals are completely welcome and will not be penalized for this. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU IN YOUR PROPOSAL Which verticals can you produce, from the list above? Be specific and honest — we'll be running paid test orders to verify quality before committing to volume. Your per-deliverable pricing — please quote flat rate per plan set/report, not just an hourly rate, for each vertical you can handle (e.g., "Solar plan set: $X, EV Charger: $X," etc.). If your rate varies by system size or complexity, explain how. Your typical turnaround time per deliverable — we need 24–48 hours from complete project info to delivery. Can you consistently meet this? What's your process if a project needs longer? Your revision policy — how do you handle corrections requested by an AHJ or utility after delivery? Do you charge for this, and if so, how much? Software/tools you use (AutoCAD, Aurora Solar, Helioscope, PVsyst, SolarEdge Designer, load calc software for HVAC, etc.) Relevant experience — prior clients, sample work (redact any real customer info), or a portfolio. Availability — how many plan sets can you realistically turn around per week at our expected volume, which will start low and scale. What do you need from us to produce each deliverable? Please be specific — for example, what exact project details, photos, or specs do you require from the customer to start drafting, per vertical? This helps us make sure our order intake form is asking customers for everything you'll actually need. HOW WE'LL EVALUATE We'll start with 1–3 paid test orders per vertical you're proposing for for accuracy, turnaround, and how well the deliverable would hold up to AHJ review. Vendors who pass will be considered for ongoing, recurring work as our order volume grows. Budget for test orders: open to your proposed per-deliverable rate — we're looking for quality and reliability first, competitive pricing second.
