I am seeking an experienced, proactive CPA to provide year-round tax strategy, planning, and compliance support for both my personal finances and my growing consulting business. I am a California resident with W-2 income and a growing business. I need a CPA who can look at the complete financial picture, identify legitimate tax-saving opportunities, explain the tradeoffs clearly, and help implement the agreed-upon strategies. This is not a request for someone who only prepares tax returns once a year. I am looking for a long-term advisory relationship with a responsive CPA who regularly works with California business owners and professional-services companies. The selected CPA will be expected to: Review my prior personal and business tax returns; Review Apogee’s current business structure and financial position; Model remaining a single-member LLC versus making an S-corporation election; Calculate potential federal and California tax savings after considering: Reasonable owner compensation; Payroll taxes; California franchise and entity taxes; Payroll and bookkeeping costs; Additional tax-preparation costs; Qualified Business Income deduction implications; and Retirement-plan contributions; Recommend and help implement an appropriate estimated-tax payment strategy; Coordinate personal and business tax planning; Review QuickBooks records and identify bookkeeping improvements; Advise on legitimate business deductions and accountable-plan reimbursements; Evaluate retirement options such as a Solo 401(k), SEP IRA, or other appropriate plans; Advise on contractor payments, Form 1099 requirements, and payroll compliance; Prepare or oversee federal and California personal and business tax returns; Conduct proactive midyear and year-end tax-planning meetings; and Remain available throughout the year for tax and entity questions. Please apply only if you meet most or all of the following requirements: Active CPA license in good standing; Significant experience with California individual and business taxation; Experience advising single-member LLCs and S corporations; Strong knowledge of reasonable-compensation requirements; Experience working with consulting, professional-services, or project-based businesses; Experience coordinating W-2 income with business income; Familiarity with QuickBooks Online; Experience with payroll, estimated taxes, retirement plans, and accountable plans; Ability to provide tax planning throughout the year—not only during tax season; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to explain recommendations in plain language; Secure process for exchanging tax returns and sensitive financial documents; and Availability for a continuing relationship if the initial engagement is successful.
