Product Development Engineer – CAD, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing | Wet/Dry Vacuum
Worldwide
We’re looking for an experienced Product Development / Mechanical Design Engineer to help complete the development of a new wet & dry vacuum and support ongoing development of our hardware product range. We already have an initial CAD design that is approximately halfway completed. We now need someone who can take ownership of the project and help bring it from the current concept through to a fully engineered, production-ready product. Initial Project – Wet & Dry Vacuum You will work with our existing CAD files and help: Review and improve the current product design Complete detailed 3D CAD and engineering Understand and engineer the internal vacuum system, airflow, motor placement, filtration, seals, drainage and other components Design plastic housings and components suitable for injection moulding Design around real-world manufacturing and assembly requirements Select/specify components where required Produce manufacturing-ready CAD, drawings and specifications Work directly with our manufacturer and tooling suppliers Review tooling designs and DFM feedback Manage design changes through tooling Review T1/T2 samples and identify required modifications Help troubleshoot engineering and manufacturing issues Take the product through to final mass-production approval Who We're Looking For Ideally, you have experience in: Mechanical/product engineering SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo or similar professional CAD software Consumer hardware or appliance development Injection-moulded plastic product design Motors, pumps, vacuums, power tools or similar electromechanical products DFM / DFA Injection mould tooling Working directly with Chinese manufacturers and tooling factories Prototype and T1 sample evaluation Taking products from concept through to mass production Direct vacuum experience would be a major advantage, but it isn't essential if you have strong experience developing similar mechanical/electrical consumer products and can understand the engineering requirements. Ongoing Opportunity This isn't intended to be a one-off CAD job. We have a growing pipeline of new hardware products and are looking for someone who can become our ongoing product development engineer, working with our internal team and manufacturers to bring new products to market. We're looking for someone practical and commercially minded — not simply someone who can make a CAD model look good. You need to understand how products are engineered, tooled, assembled and manufactured at scale. When applying, please send examples of physical products you have personally helped take from concept/CAD through tooling and into production, particularly appliances, vacuums, power tools, pumps or similar products.
