Summary

Remote, US · ~5–6 hrs/week to start, room to grow · $20–35/hr DOE Life Is Golden makes apparel for dog die-hards. We run two sides: our regular public collections, and personalized apparel — a customer sends photos of their dog, plus their truck, their lake house, their story, and we turn it into illustrated art. Hand-drawn linework, selective color, a vintage print feel. The dog is always the hero. The custom side is where we need help right now. If it goes well, this grows into the lead design role for the whole brand, collections included. THE HONEST PICTURE OF THE WORKFLOW Our first-draft concepts are AI-generated from tightly written instructions, and they come out roughly 80% there. Your job is the last 20% — the edits that make one actually special. And when the customer asks for changes, you make them: "her coat is redder than that," "he's got a spot on his tongue," "the boat's stern is wrong," "can he be a little taller?" That revision stage is where craft matters most, and it's the job. You'd work out of our custom design terminal, which collects everything for each job in one place: the customer's reference photos, the current design, their request in their own words, and our aesthetic guide. You return print-ready art plus a few sentences on what you changed and why. We'll train you on the terminal when you start — nothing to learn up front. YOU WORK IN YOUR TOOLS You'll need a ChatGPT subscription and whatever photo editor you prefer. Hand-fix pixels, regenerate the whole piece and tweak it, or anything in between — we judge the outcome, not the method. The one non-negotiable: the dog in the final art has to look like the customer's actual dog. WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE • You execute the request faithfully — and you catch what the customer didn't say: an off hue, an AI artifact, a weak headline, type fighting the art. • Your files are genuinely print-ready: 300dpi, transparent, no halos or fringe, no stray pixels, no weirdness. • You're fast. These are spot-fixes and regenerations, not new commissions — roughly 15–20 minutes each once you're ramped. • You communicate like a pro: same-day acknowledgment, same or next-day delivery, and you ask early when something's ambiguous instead of guessing. DETAILS • $20–35/hr depending on experience and demonstrated skill • Starts around 5–6 hrs/week with a guaranteed weekly minimum — with real room to grow • US-based, fully remote • Weekday availability (a check-in each workday; this isn't a weekend-batch gig) • Customer photos, names, and stories are confidential — no portfolio use without written permission TO APPLY, INCLUDE: 1. 2–3 examples of relevant work — especially anything where you fixed or improved existing art, not just generated new concepts 2. The generative image tools you use 3. How many hours a week you'd want now, and what you could grow into 4. Confirmation you're up for a short paid test (about 30 minutes, paid a full hour at your rate) ABOUT THAT TEST: every credible applicant gets the same one — a real revision job from our archive, anonymized. It should take about 30 minutes and we pay you for a full hour at your rate. It's the fastest way for both of us to find out whether this fits.
