Psychometric Item Writer — Situational Judgement Tests (SJT/BARS), Workplace Assessment

We are Lumitech, a Dubai-based software company building the assessment engine behind a large career-development platform in the Middle East (client under NDA, disclosed after hiring). We need an experienced SJT writer to author approximately 200 bespoke items for a Technical Skills module: situational judgement scenarios and behaviourally anchored rating scales (BARS), in English, for five audience levels from students to senior professionals. What you’ll do: - Write realistic workplace scenarios with response options and a defensible effectiveness key for each - Author BARS items with clear behavioural anchors - Follow an assessment blueprint set by our supervising psychometrician (items per construct per audience level) - Deliver each item with metadata: construct, difficulty indicator, rationale for the key - Revise items through two structured client review cycles (included in your rate) Requirements: - Demonstrated experience authoring SJTs specifically — not general content writing, not survey questions - Background in I/O psychology, psychometrics, or assessment development (degree or equivalent work history) - Professional written English - Near-full-time availability for 4–5 weeks, minimum half-day overlap with UTC+4 - Middle East / Gulf workplace familiarity is a strong plus Originality is non-negotiable: every item must be your original work, free of third-party rights. Content from current or former employers, including reproduced from memory, is strictly prohibited and warranted in the contract. Full IP transfers to the client. NDA required. A detailed written brief on scope boundaries and methodology is shared with shortlisted applicants. In your proposal, include: 1. A short note on your SJT development experience (where, what volume, what constructs) 2. One or two sample SJT items you authored (sanitised of proprietary content) — scenario, options, key, and why the key is correct 3. Your rate and earliest start date First milestone is a paid pilot batch of 10 items. We shortlist daily and hire within days. Proposals without sample items will not be considered.
