QuickBooks Online Cleanup & S-Corp Payroll Setup

Small advertising agency seeking an experienced QuickBooks Online bookkeeper/accountant to clean up our books from January 2026 through the present and establish payroll for the owner. Business details: - S-Corporation - Owner is the only employee - Freelancers/contractors used for client work - Cash-basis accounting - QuickBooks Online Scope of work: - Review and correct transaction categorizations - Reconcile bank accounts - Review Chart of Accounts - Correct owner contributions/distributions and business expenses paid personally - Review transfers, client-reimbursable expenses, contractor expenses, and customer payments - Identify and correct duplicate or improperly recorded transactions - Leave books clean and ready for tax preparation Payroll: - Set up payroll for the owner for 2026 - Properly establish payroll accounts and owner/employee setup - Advise how owner payments already made in 2026 should be handled - Identify any retroactive payroll filings/taxes that may be required - Coordinate with our CPA as needed - Establish a clear payroll process going forward Ideal candidate: - Strong QuickBooks Online cleanup experience - Experience with S-Corporations and owner/shareholder payroll - Familiarity with U.S. payroll tax requirements - QuickBooks ProAdvisor or accounting/bookkeeping credentials preferred - Able to explain recommendations clearly When applying, please include: - Your experience with QBO cleanup and S-Corp payroll - Whether you have set up payroll mid-year for an S-Corp owner - Whether you handle payroll filings or coordinate with a CPA/payroll provider - Your hourly rate and estimated hours after an initial review
