Summary

We're a US bookkeeping and fractional-CFO firm that serves independent auto repair shops. New clients usually come to us with messy books — months (sometimes years) of uncategorized transactions, unreconciled bank accounts, and balance sheets that don't tie to anything. Your job is to turn those files into clean, accurate books our team can take over for monthly service. What you'll do Clean up and catch up QuickBooks Online files: categorize transactions, fix the chart of accounts, and remove duplicates Reconcile bank and credit card accounts, month by month, back to the statements Untangle clearing accounts (undeposited funds, payment clearing, owner loans) and document what's left Tie shop sales data (Tekmetric or similar shop systems) to what's booked in QBO Draft adjusting journal entries for review — you propose, we approve and post Document every assumption and open item in a workbook. Nothing gets buried. You're a fit if you have 3+ years of hands-on QBO cleanup/catch-up work (not just data entry — real diagnostic cleanup) Strong bank reconciliation skills and solid debits-and-credits fundamentals Comfort in Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups) Clear written English — you'll hand off work with written summaries Reliable availability of 10–20 hours/week Bonus points QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification Experience with auto repair shops, dealerships, or other point-of-sale-heavy businesses Tekmetric, Shop-Ware, Mitchell, or similar shop-management systems How we work Every cleanup follows a written procedure. We label work VERIFIED (tied to source documents) or DRAFT, and we flag every gap loudly instead of plugging numbers. If that sounds tedious, this isn't the job for you. If it sounds like how books should be done, we'll get along great. Process: Short interview, then a small paid test cleanup. Strong performers get steady project flow with room to grow into monthly client work. To show you read this, start your proposal with the word "RECONCILED" and briefly describe the messiest QBO file you've fixed and how you approached it.
