React Native Developer — Consumer Mobile App with AI Features

We are looking for an experienced React Native developer to build the first production version of a consumer mobile application with AI integrated into the core user experience. The initial release targets Android, with the architecture built so an iOS release can follow from the same codebase. This is not a template build. The AI is part of the product rather than a feature bolted on, so we need someone comfortable with AI APIs, real-time interaction and modern backend services, who can also produce a polished consumer interface. Core features - User registration, login and onboarding - Profile creation with photos, interests, preferences and written prompts - Discovery and recommendation system - Connections: expressing interest, forming a connection, and removing one - Real-time text chat - AI-powered conversation, recommendation and matching features - Push notifications - Photo upload, compression and moderation - Location and distance-based discovery - Subscription and in-app purchase integration - User reporting, blocking and safety controls - Basic analytics and crash reporting - Admin and moderation tooling - Play Store-ready Android build Technical requirements - Strong React Native and TypeScript - Experience building and releasing production Android applications - Familiarity with Expo and EAS Build, or the ability to explain why a bare React Native setup would be preferable - REST or GraphQL API integration - Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic or comparable AI APIs - Experience implementing streaming AI responses - Real-time messaging using WebSockets, Firebase, Supabase or similar - Authentication, secure token storage and user permissions - Familiarity with Google Play Billing or RevenueCat - Ability to produce responsive, polished interfaces from Figma designs - Understanding of mobile performance, security, testing and error monitoring - Clean, maintainable, documented code Experience with social, messaging or AI companion applications is a significant advantage. Preferred stack React Native, TypeScript, Expo and EAS, Supabase or Firebase, Node.js backend, PostgreSQL, OpenAI or Anthropic API, RevenueCat, Stream, Sendbird or a custom WebSocket messaging layer, Sentry and PostHog. We are open to alternative recommendations where they come with clear reasoning.
