React Native MapLibre & Navigation Expert

No agencies. We are building a Strava-style mobile app for an outdoor sport using React Native and Supabase. We need a specialist in mobile maps, route generation, GPS tracking and turn-by-turn navigation. We already have a strong working map built with React, TypeScript, MapLibre, OpenStreetMap and vector tiles. We do not need it rebuilt, we just need it into the React Native mobile app. You will understand the existing implementation, integrate it into the React Native app and make mobile-specific changes where required. You will work on: - MapLibre integration for iOS and Android - Custom layers, vector tiles, routes and information points - Live GPS recording and background location tracking - Route planning, map matching and off-route detection - Turn-by-turn navigation and rerouting, similar to satnav - Trail, mountain and outdoor routing - not primarily road routing - Performance, battery usage and potentially offline maps We also have an existing route-generation script. It uses inputs such as available time, location and preferred route style to generate a suitable route. You will be expected to integrate, maintain and modify this script when required. You will work alongside another developer and reuse existing features and components where possible. You must also be comfortable using AI coding tools to develop quickly while taking responsibility for testing and code quality.
