Part-Time Engineer – Maintain & Extend a Compliance Tracking App (Node.js/React/PostgreSQL, Azure) Job Description We built an internal compliance tracking application — it manages ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and SOC 2 audit requirements across a task hierarchy, with evidence uploads, role-based access control, an audit log, and a progress dashboard. It's a TypeScript/Node.js + Express API with a Prisma/PostgreSQL backend, a React + Vite frontend, and deploys to Azure App Service via GitHub Actions. We're looking for a part-time engineer to take ownership of ongoing maintenance and small-to-medium feature work — someone comfortable working independently against a fairly clean, well-documented codebase, not building something from scratch. The current app is pre-deployment and was built using What you'd be doing: Bug fixes and small feature requests (new filters, report views, workflow tweaks) Schema changes via Prisma migrations as requirements evolve Maintaining the CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions → Azure App Service) Occasional monitoring/troubleshooting of the production deployment Light frontend work (React/TypeScript) alongside backend changes Documenting changes as you go — the project already has a README, deployment guide, and inline comments; we'd like to keep it that way Must have: Strong TypeScript across both Node.js/Express and React Solid experience with Prisma (or a comparable ORM) and PostgreSQL — comfortable writing and reviewing migrations Experience deploying and maintaining apps on Azure App Service (or equivalent cloud PaaS) Comfortable with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling Can work independently, communicate clearly async, and give realistic time estimates Nice to have: Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) / OAuth SSO integrations Experience with RBAC design or audit-logging patterns Exposure to compliance/GRC concepts (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS) — not required, just a plus This is an ongoing, part-time engagement — we expect roughly [X–Y] hours per week, with workload varying by sprint. Start with a paid trial task so we can each confirm fit before committing to a longer-term arrangement.
