Remote Interior Designer: Soho House Aesthetic for Miami Loft

I am looking for a talented, remote interior designer to help me transform a male business executive / content creator client's 1,100 square foot one-bedroom loft (with a den) in Miami into a curated, eclectic, and cozy retreat. My north star for this project is the Soho House / Soho Home aesthetic. I want the space to feel collected, vibrant, and effortlessly luxurious—a true "home-away-from-home" that balances maximalist comfort with refined taste. Please note: This is a private, personal residential project and is not affiliated with or an official hiring post for Soho House or Soho Home. The Design Vision The ideal candidate will understand how to translate the core tenets of the Soho House style into a residential Miami loft. I am looking for someone who knows how to execute: Local Flavor & History: Tying the design to Miami’s unique cultural fabric, utilizing local color palettes and acknowledging the architectural narrative of the area. Layers, Textures, and Patterns: A mastery of mixing materials and overlapping patterns without making the space feel cluttered. The ultimate goal is high-end comfort. Rich, Velvet Vibes: Strategic incorporation of plush velvet seating or embellishments (think indigo, emerald, currant, or goldenrod) to anchor the rooms. Statement Area Rugs: Using hand-knotted, artisanal, or vintage-inspired mid-century rugs to add warmth, define furniture vignettes, and bring depth to the loft. Masterful Mood Lighting: Moving away from harsh, bright white bulbs. I want to incorporate soft, moody lighting using layered sources—dimmers, warm amber hues, Italian glass, or aged metal fixtures to set the perfect glow. The Vintage/Custom Blend: Seamlessly mixing modern upholstery with vintage-inspired charm. Den Content Space: The Den will also need to be used as a content YouTube studio for a content creator (similar to Cleo Abrams, Ryan Trahan talking head backgrounds, etc.) and will need to optimize for filming space with YouTube background, lighting setup, space to work / edit. The Role & Responsibilities While I want the high-end look of Soho Home, I need a designer who is deeply pragmatic about a client's budget. You will be responsible for: Spatial Planning: Creating functional, comfortable layouts for the 1BD + Den footprint. Creative Procurement: This is critical. You must have an incredible eye for finding quality, timeless pieces while expertly sourcing cheaper alternatives, clever dupes, and budget-friendly online finds. High-Low Sourcing: The ability to know when to splurge on a statement piece and when to save by hunting down hidden gems on online vintage shops, thrift platforms, or accessible retail brands. Visual Storytelling: Providing mood boards, floor plans, and shoppable links for all approved items. Requirements to Apply A Relevant Portfolio: Please include links to past projects or mood boards that specifically demonstrate your ability to execute a layered, eclectic, Soho House-quality aesthetic. Sourcing Expertise: Briefly describe your approach to sourcing and how you balance achieving a high-end look while respecting a realistic budget. Remote E-Design Experience: Proven ability to manage a design project remotely, communicating effectively via Upwork, video calls, and digital presentations.
