Robot Arm Joint 3D CAD - Inventor
Worldwide
Autodesk Inventor 2023 (or older) native files required. Previous robot joint design preferred but not required. Job is to design Base, Joint 1,and Joint 2 for a typical robotic arm. Two image examples of the area in question are attached. End effector arm is out of scope for this project. Your design can just end with a featureless surface anticipating a custom end effector will be designed separately later. The key design task is to incorporate our chosen 170mm motor solution. We will provide 3D STEP and datasheet for the two motors. We will provide anticipated reaction forces. This will be a first working prototype, and as such we have not yet measured real world reaction forces. Hence this initial prototype should focus on strength and ease of fabrication. We will 3D print models to confirm fit, and then prototype using CNC cut aluminum. Important aspects include; - Incorporating slip rings into base - Wire path planning through the motors bore hole - Metric fastener selection - No mechanical stops. Both J1 and J2 should be able to rotate 360. Only J1 will use slip rings. Simple FEA is a nice to have, but really we'd rather not spend effort on optimizing anything at this point. We'd prefer to just 'over design' at this stage. After we've tested a prototype and really understand the reaction forces, and confirmed these motors, then we will design a nicer looking robot and optimize. We just aren't there yet. Let's race to a prototype. Inventor 2023 is a firm requirement as our existing CAD team uses that. Deliverables need to be fully parameterized, not an exported model. Success with this project will lead to immediate follow up projects.
