Summary

We are a small marketing firm that manages marketing for multiple service business clients across industries including wellness, professional services, home services, and education. We are looking for a content writer with a background in writing and SEO, someone who developed their skills through years of hands-on work, not through AI tools. We need someone who can produce content that sounds specific, considered, and human, because this is what's becoming a competitive advantage for our clients. What you will be writing: -Blog posts written with SEO and GEO in mind. These are not keyword-stuffed articles. They need to answer questions, have specific positioning/EEAT, sound like the brand, and be structured in a way that helps both Google and AI tools like ChatGPT surface the content. -Website page content including service pages, location pages, FAQs, and landing pages. You should be comfortable writing for conversion and search intent at the same time. -Email copy including newsletters, promotional sequences, and nurture campaigns. Tone varies by client. -Social media captions for review and occasionally from scratch. -Content audits and refreshes, reviewing existing pages and blog posts and rewriting them for better clarity, SEO signals, and GEO positioning. What we need from a writing standpoint: 1) A background in content and SEO that predates AI tools. You should be able to talk about how you developed your writing instincts, how you learned to structure content for search, and how you approach a new subject or industry without a template to lean on. 2) Strong, natural writing that does not read like AI output. If you use AI in your process, it should be invisible by the time something reaches us. Everything that goes out needs to sound like a person wrote it, because in your case, one did. 3) The ability to match brand voice quickly. You will be given guidelines and examples and expected to follow them without constant correction. 4) An understanding of how structure affects SEO and GEO. You should know why headers matter, how to write a meta description that gets clicked, how to use internal linking naturally, and how to write in a way that positions a client as the answer to a specific question, not just a page that contains keywords. 5) Attention to word-level detail. We have specific banned words and phrases per client. We flag em dashes, overused phrases, and anything that sounds templated. You need to care about the small stuff. 6) Strategic thinking, not just execution. You think about why each piece of content exists, who it is for, and whether it is serving the account. You work from content pillars and audience pain point research, and you ask questions like: what does their target audience care about, what problem are we solving, does this sound like something a person would stop scrolling for? If you approach content as a task to complete rather than a conversation to have with an audience, this is not the right fit. What you do not need: You do not need to handle technical SEO like fixing canonicals, GTM setup, or server-side issues. What you do need is enough familiarity with Google Search Console and GA4 to inform your writing decisions, identifying content gaps, understanding what pages need refreshing, spotting low CTR titles that need rewriting, and knowing what the data is telling you about what to prioritize next. Tools you should be comfortable with: WordPress, Wix, Google Workspace, Asana, and Notion. You will receive tasks in Asana with detailed briefs and are expected to work independently from those briefs. How we work: Tasks come through Asana with full context. Questions go in Slack or in a weekly team meeting. You are expected to flag if a brief is unclear before starting, not after delivering something off-track. If you finish a piece and you are not sure it sounds right, say so. This is an ongoing relationship for the right person. Hours can grow as trust builds. To apply: Please include two writing samples you are proud of, one blog post and one email or webpage. Tell us what client it was written for, what the goal was, and briefly describe your background in content writing and SEO before AI tools became common. Applications without samples will not be reviewed.
