Sage 200 to Azure SQL + Power BI Reporting Layer (must know Sage 200 UK/Ireland schema)

We are a single-entity Irish import & distribution business running Sage 200 Professional on SQL Server. We want a reliable, daily-refreshed reporting layer in Azure covering sales, margin, stock, purchasing and debtors. THE PRIMARY GOAL is to get the data out of Sage 200 into an open, well-modelled platform that we own. Power BI dashboards are one consumer of that layer — but just as important, the data must be directly queryable by AI assistants (Claude, Microsoft Copilot or similar). If you have a better architecture for achieving this, we are open to your recommendation. No changes will be made to Sage itself. Our Sage business partner's involvement is limited to providing read-only SQL credentials. DELIVERABLES 1. Extraction pipeline from the on-premise Sage 200 SQL Server to Azure SQL Database (you recommend the simplest fit — e.g. Azure Data Factory with a self-hosted integration runtime). Incremental refresh, scheduled daily at minimum, with failure alerting. 2. Modelled reporting layer (star schema): sales invoices/credits, stock movements and valuations, purchase orders, customer/supplier/product masters, nominal ledger. 3. Power BI semantic model plus 3–5 core dashboards: sales and margin by customer/product, stock cover, aged debtors, purchasing. 4. AI-ready access layer: clean, human-readable naming; a data dictionary; and a scoped, read-only credential suitable for connecting AI tools (e.g. Claude querying Azure SQL directly, or an MCP-style connector). 5. Full documentation: table mappings, refresh schedule, credentials handover, failure runbook — sufficient for any competent contractor to take the solution over. ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA - Reported monthly sales, margin and aged debtor figures reconcile to the equivalent Sage 200 reports for two agreed test months. - Stock valuation reconciles to the Sage 200 stock valuation report at an agreed date. - The daily refresh runs unattended for 10 consecutive business days, completing before 07:30 Irish time. - An AI assistant connected with the scoped read-only credential correctly answers agreed test questions against the reporting layer. - Documentation reviewed and handover call completed. MILESTONES (fixed price) - 30% — Sage 200 data landing in Azure SQL with incremental refresh working. - 40% — modelled layer and dashboards delivered for review. - 30% — acceptance criteria met and documentation handed over. Ongoing: no retainer. Ad-hoc changes at day rate, expected 1–2 days/quarter maintenance. NON-NEGOTIABLES - Azure subscription in our company name; you are added as a guest — never the reverse. - Read-only access to the Sage database; the SQL Server is never exposed to the public internet. - All code, pipelines, Power BI files and documentation are our property, in our repository; secrets in our Azure Key Vault. - Customer/supplier personal data: processing and storage in an EU Azure region (North Europe) only. NDA and data-processing terms before credentials are issued. - No mandatory support contract. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT: prior hands-on experience with the Sage 200 Professional (UK/Ireland) database schema. Please only apply if you have worked directly with Sage 200 SQL tables.
