Screencast Video Editor
Worldwide
We're Bitterbrains, the team behind Unlearn, certificates.dev, Vue School, Mastering Nuxt, and Pinia. We teach developers. Tens of thousands of them. And we take that seriously. We want an editor who understands that a well-edited screencast is a teaching tool and treats every cut, zoom, and caption like it matters to the person learning on the other side of the screen. ---------- What You'll Do - Edit raw screencast recordings into clean, focused, high-quality tutorial videos - Cut pacing ruthlessly, remove dead air, filler words, false starts, and anything that breaks the learning flow - Apply zoom-ins, highlights, and cursor emphasis to guide viewer attention at exactly the right moment - Add captions, code callouts, annotations, and lower-thirds that reinforce, not distract from what's being taught - Maintain consistent visual and audio quality across all lessons in a course (color grading, audio leveling, noise removal) - Fix and polish audio using AI tools — remove background noise, clicks, breath sounds, and room echo; level volumes; and enhance overall clarity so every lesson sounds studio-recorded even when it wasn't - Generate and burn accurate subtitles/captions using AI transcription tools, properly timed, cleaned up for readability, and formatted to our style (not raw auto-captions dumped on screen) - Use AI tools to speed up repetitive tasks without cutting corners on output quality - Work from editorial briefs or light notes from instructors and make smart decisions independently - Deliver assets in the correct formats, resolutions, and specs across platforms - Occasionally suggest structural or pacing improvements when you spot something that could teach better ---------- What We're Looking For Must-Haves - Proven screencast editing portfolio, we need to see edited developer tutorials, technical courses, or software walkthroughs specifically. General video editing reels won't be enough. - Deep familiarity with developer content, you understand what a terminal, IDE, code diff, or browser devtools looks like and why it matters on screen - Expert-level use of zoom, pan, and highlight techniques for screen content (not just generic Ken Burns effects) - Strong audio post-production skills with AI, levels, noise reduction, breath removal, de-clicking, room echo cleanup, and volume consistency across a full course. We record in imperfect environments and need someone who can make it sound like we didn't. - AI-powered subtitling and captioning, you know how to generate accurate transcripts, clean them up, time them properly, and style them consistently. Auto-captions straight out of the tool are not acceptable. - AI tool fluency, you use AI to transcribe, clean audio, auto-caption, and speed up your workflow - Ability to work independently from minimal briefs, you ask the right questions early and don't come back with avoidable revisions - Fast and reliable - Async-first communicator, clear, proactive, no hand-holding needed Nice-to-Haves - Personal experience with coding, web development, or developer tools, you don't need to code, but understanding what's happening on screen is a huge advantage - Experience editing for e-learning platforms - Eye for visual consistency across a full course, not just individual lessons
