Screenwriter Wanted: Music Driven Indie Feature Film

About the Project: We're looking for a screenwriter to bring our story to life—a music drama and coming-of-age story with a whole lot of heart. The film follows Lila, a young lead singer chasing a dream that feels impossible to everyone but her. She's charismatic and soulful, but she's also wrestling with crippling self-doubt and the weight of her immigrant parents' expectations. When a once-in-a-lifetime chance drops in her lap, Lila has to decide who she wants to be, and what she's willing to risk to get there. At its core, this is a story about the healing power of music, the courage it takes to find your own voice, and the messy, beautiful reality of growing up. We already have a detailed treatment and a full character grid ready to hand off. Now we need the right writer to turn it into a screenplay. What You'll Do • Write a full feature-length screenplay based on our existing treatment • Develop a detailed beat sheet and outline before diving into pages • Deliver a strong first draft, then collaborate with us through revisions • Bring authentic, character-driven dialogue and emotional depth to every scene • Honor the cultural roots of reggae while keeping the story fresh and commercial Who We're Looking For: This is a great fit for an emerging or early-career screenwriter who's ready to prove what they can do. Here's what we hope you bring: • 1–2 produced or award-recognized feature scripts (contest placements, fellowships, or a produced short/indie feature all count) • Real experience writing character-driven drama—we care most about emotion, structure, and people who feel real • A track record with culturally specific or music-driven stories, or a genuine passion for both • Sharp instincts for dialogue and character development • Comfort collaborating, taking notes, and revising with an open mind • Professional habits: you hit deadlines, communicate clearly, and love the work How to Apply Please send us the following: 1.
