Seeking Technical Designer — Women's Bags & Athletic Accessories

We are currently developing an initial product line for a new women’s athletic accessories brand designed around movement, self-expression, and effortless style. These accessories aim to be elevated, playful, and functional for women who play golf, tennis, pickleball, and other racquet sports. The brand sits at the intersection of sport, fashion, and lifestyle — products need to perform, but they should also feel distinctive, beautiful, and fun. We are looking for a freelance Technical Designer / Soft Goods Designer to help translate product concepts and sketches into production-ready technical documentation. Initial Scope - We’re looking for someone with experience designing soft goods and sewn accessories who can take a concept, sketch, inspiration image, or rough specification and develop the technical details needed to move toward manufacturing and prototyping. Initial product categories may include: • Women's athletic/sport bags and totes • Detachable racquet covers/cases • Golf headcovers • Multi-purpose golf/tennis towels • Hats • Socks • Straps and bag accessories • Small sewn accessories and future soft-goods products The first project will likely involve developing technical drawings and/or tech packs for several products, with the possibility of continuing on an ongoing basis as additional products are developed. What You'll Do - Depending on the product, responsibilities may include: • Translate sketches, concepts, and inspiration into detailed technical drawings • Create 2D technical flats / CAD drawings • Develop product dimensions and construction details • Specify materials, trims, hardware, closures, webbing, zippers, lining, foam/interfacing, etc. • Develop clear construction callouts for manufacturers • Create or contribute to tech packs • Document measurements and tolerances • Create detail drawings for unique features or construction • Develop artwork/placement specifications where applicable • Help identify potential manufacturing or construction issues before sampling • Review factory questions and help clarify design intent • Review prototypes/samples and recommend design revisions • Update technical drawings and specifications through the sampling process • Maintain organized, production-ready design files Manufacturing Experience - Experience taking products from concept → technical drawings → prototype → production is highly preferred, but not required. It would be a major plus if you have: • Worked directly with overseas or USA-based manufacturers or factories • Experience communicating with bag/accessory factories • Experience reviewing prototypes and samples • Knowledge of sewn-product construction • Understanding of materials such as nylon, polyester, canvas, jacquard, webbing, foam, lining materials, etc. • Experience troubleshooting construction issues with factories • Experience preparing products for production Project Pricing - We are open to either hourly or fixed-price project work, depending on the product. Because the scope will vary significantly by product complexity, we'd would prefer to establish a clear scope and estimated cost for each product/project before beginning. Your availability over the next 1–3 months 8. Your typical turnaround time for a product like a bag or accessory
