Senior ARKit / Swift Developer - AR Inspection App for Large Equipment (iOS, no Unity)

We are building an AR-guided inspection app for large industrial equipment. A worker points their iPhone at the equipment, the app recognizes which side they are looking at, and inspection markers appear anchored on the physical object. Tap a marker, see the checklist, capture photo evidence, sign, submit. The backend is already built and working. A working proof-of-concept ARKit test app with image tracking and accuracy metrics already exists and will be provided to you. Your job is the heavy lifting: turn the proven tracking approach plus a detailed written spec into a polished, reliable, impressive native iOS app. IMPORTANT - this must be native Swift/SwiftUI + ARKit. Not Unity, not Vuforia, not React Native, not Flutter. Our in-house team continues development after handoff, so the code must be plain Swift that builds from a standard Xcode project. Proposals offering Unity will be declined. What you build: - AR markers anchored per side of the equipment using reference image tracking, with world tracking carrying between sides as the user walks around - Tap a marker: checklist card, pass/flag, photo evidence with the camera - Full flow: QR scan for equipment identity, guided walk-around, signature, submit to our existing backend (Supabase - contract and test credentials provided) - Equipment profiles load from a JSON file, so new equipment can be added without code changes - Graceful fallback: if AR cannot lock (bad light), the inspection continues in a guided non-AR mode - it must never dead-end What we provide: - Full written spec with measurable acceptance criteria - The working ARKit test app (real code, builds today) to start from - Reference target images and a real test profile - Backend schema and test credentials - One decision-maker, fast answers Deliverables: - Complete source code in a private repository we own, with regular commits - Weekly builds we can install on our own iPhone and test - Short docs: how to build, how the app is structured, how to add new equipment - All work is work-for-hire, IP fully assigned (standard Upwork terms) Timeline: roughly 3-4 weeks of focused work. We start with a small paid trial task (2-3 days) before committing to the full project. Product name and industry details are shared with shortlisted candidates under NDA.
