Senior AWS + PostgreSQL engineer; verification and deployment work, not redesign.
Worldwide
Yes. I would post this as one Upwork job looking for a senior AWS + PostgreSQL engineer, but make it very clear this is verification and deployment work, not redesign. Upwork title Senior AWS + PostgreSQL Engineer Needed for Controlled Deployment & Verification Job post We are looking for a senior backend/cloud engineer with strong hands-on experience in AWS, PostgreSQL 17, Docker, security configuration, and API/database integration. We have an existing controlled software package and architecture. The purpose of this assignment is not to redesign or refactor the system. We need an experienced engineer to execute the existing packages in a real environment, identify genuine runtime problems, preserve the evidence, and help us get the system through its remaining deployment and verification gates. The first priority is PostgreSQL. You will: * Run our existing controlled PostgreSQL package on PostgreSQL 17 using Docker or another clean PostgreSQL 17 environment. * Execute the existing migrations and SQL test suites exactly as supplied. * Verify database constraints, tenant isolation/RLS, roles and permissions, idempotency, rollback behavior, concurrency, audit records, and transactional outbox behavior. * Preserve complete logs of what was run and what passed or failed. * If something genuinely fails, document the exact error and proposed correction rather than changing the architecture simply to make a test pass. * Perform a controlled backup and restore into a second clean PostgreSQL database and verify data/integrity after restore. * Connect the existing MaterialCode API persistence layer to PostgreSQL and execute end-to-end API/database integration tests. The second part is the AWS reference environment. We need help deploying and testing the existing AWS reference architecture in eu-north-1 (Stockholm). This includes, as applicable: * Amazon RDS PostgreSQL 17 * AWS KMS using protected/non-exportable signing keys * Amazon Cognito OAuth 2.0/OIDC * S3 evidence storage * S3 Object Lock for selected immutable evidence * IAM and least-privilege role configuration * Secrets management * TLS and restricted/private networking * Logging/monitoring * Backup/PITR and recovery testing * Deployment/rollback verification We already have controlled source packages, architecture decisions, test requirements, and preflight evidence. We do not want a contractor to replace these with a new architecture, framework, database model, or cloud design unless a genuine defect is demonstrated and discussed first. Evidence/documentation requirements This project is evidence-driven. For every execution we need: * Exact PostgreSQL, Docker, Node and AWS/tool versions used * Exact commands executed * Complete unedited test/output logs * Migration PASS/FAIL results * Security/RLS/authorization test results * Backup and restore evidence * API→database integration results * AWS configuration and verification evidence * Any errors encountered and their likely root cause * A clear distinction between passed, failed, and not executed Please do not mark something as passed unless it was actually executed successfully. Important constraints Do not: * Redesign the architecture * Refactor working code simply for preference * Replace existing technologies without approval * Disable security controls to make tests pass * Make RDS publicly accessible merely for convenience * Hard-code or expose secrets * Export private production signing keys * Claim a test passed if it was not actually executed If a genuine code or configuration defect is found, stop, preserve the failure evidence, explain the issue, and propose the smallest appropriate correction. Ideal experience Strong experience with: PostgreSQL 17, Docker, SQL migrations, RLS, transaction/concurrency testing, AWS RDS, KMS, Cognito/OIDC, S3/Object Lock, IAM, networking/TLS, backup/recovery, Node.js APIs, and security-focused production deployments. Experience conducting structured verification or audit-style engineering work is especially useful. When applying Please answer these three questions: 1. Have you personally deployed and tested PostgreSQL with RLS, transactional functions, concurrency and backup/restore? Please describe briefly. 2. Have you personally configured AWS RDS, KMS, Cognito, S3/Object Lock and IAM in a production or serious test environment? 3. Are you comfortable executing an existing controlled architecture without redesigning it, preserving complete test evidence, and reporting failures before making changes? Milestone 1 — PostgreSQL 17 verification: Run the supplied PostgreSQL package, migrations and tests; provide complete logs and PASS/FAIL evidence.
