Senior Cloud / API Developer – E-commerce Automation Platform

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend / API Developer or small development team to build a cloud-based e-commerce automation platform. The goal is to create a scalable system that can collect products from multiple external sources, process and enrich the data, apply dynamic business rules and pricing, and automatically publish and synchronize products with online marketplaces. The first marketplace integration will be Kaufland, with additional marketplaces planned later. What we want to build The basic workflow is: Product sources → Data collection → Product processing → Pricing & business rules → Translation/enrichment → Marketplace → Automatic synchronization The platform should be cloud-native, API-first and highly automated. It should run independently in the cloud, without requiring a local computer or manually running scripts. Dynamic pricing & business rules A key requirement is that the system must be highly configurable. We do not want important business logic hard-coded into the software. We want to be able to change rules and settings from the platform without requiring code changes. For example: * Profit margins * Markups * Pricing formulas * Shipping costs * Marketplace fees * VAT/tax calculations * Price rounding * Minimum/maximum prices * Product filters * Category rules * Supplier-specific rules * Marketplace-specific rules * Stock rules * Product mappings * Translation settings For example: Supplier A → 25% margin Category B → 35% margin Products below €15 → don’t publish Stock below 3 → don’t publish Supplier price changes → automatically recalculate and update marketplace price The exact technical implementation is open to your recommendation. The important part is that the platform remains flexible, scalable and configurable. Product sourcing & processing The platform should be able to collect product data from multiple external sources and suppliers. This may involve APIs, scraping or other appropriate data acquisition methods. We need to process information such as: * Product titles * Descriptions * Images * Prices * Stock * Categories * Attributes * Variations * Specifications * Product identifiers The data should be converted into a unified internal product structure so different sources can feed into the same system. The system should also support automated translation and potentially AI-based product enrichment. Marketplace integrations Kaufland will be the first marketplace integration. The platform should be able to create, update and synchronize products, including relevant product data, images, pricing and stock. However, the architecture should make it easy to add additional marketplaces later. We do not want to build a Kaufland-specific system that needs to be rebuilt from scratch for every new marketplace. Marketplace integrations should therefore be modular. Cloud & scalability The entire platform should run autonomously in the cloud. It should be possible to: * Process products in bulk * Run automated background jobs * Continuously monitor price and stock changes * Automatically synchronize changes * Handle errors and retries * Monitor system activity * Scale as the number of products and users increases We are open to your recommendation regarding the technology stack and cloud provider. We care about: * Scalability * Reliability * Security * Maintainability * Good API architecture * Automated processing * Monitoring and logging * Clean and documented code Multi-user / future SaaS architecture Although we may initially use the platform ourselves, the architecture should be designed to support multiple users in the future. For example, we may want to give access to students or other users, while maintaining central control over the platform. Each user should be able to have their own: * Products * Suppliers * Marketplace connections * Pricing rules * Business rules * Settings * Data An admin should be able to manage users and the overall platform. We are not necessarily asking for a full SaaS product in the first MVP, but the underlying architecture should be designed so this can be added without rebuilding the entire system. Who we are looking for You should have strong experience with: * Backend development * REST/API integrations * Cloud architecture * Web scraping/data extraction * E-commerce systems * Databases * Automation * Background processing * Scalable systems Experience with marketplace APIs, product-feed systems, PIM systems, pricing engines or e-commerce automation is a strong advantage.
