Senior Cloud Engineer / SRE - GCP & AWS (Contract) - US West

About Us WALT Labs is a Google Cloud Premier Partner providing 24/7 proactive managed cloud services. We are looking for experienced Senior Cloud Engineers / Site Reliability Engineers to join our Managed Services team on a fixed monthly contract. We are hiring for US West coverage. Applicants are required to cover the below shift. US West Coverage -Monday–Friday: 4:00 PM–12:00 AM UTC -Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time IF YOU ARE AN AGENCY, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY! Our SLA response targets are: - P1 incidents: 15 minutes - P2 incidents: 30 minutes Consistent availability and reliability during the shift are essential. What You'll Do? - Respond to and resolve customer tickets and incidents across GCP and AWS environments, handling work up to L3 complexity (architecture and infrastructure-level decisions) - Triage, prioritise, and manage tickets in JIRA within SLA requirements - Lead incident response and coordinate war rooms via incident.io and Slack - Proactive monitoring and alerting using Datadog and Google Cloud Monitoring - Kubernetes (GKE/EKS) troubleshooting, Terraform IaC, and automation scripting - Google Workspace administration - Root cause analysis, documentation, runbooks, and mentoring junior engineers 50% billable hours target Requirements: - Ability to adapt in a high paced and high pressure environment - Ability to do context-switching in shared services environment - 3–5 years hands-on GCP experience - 3–5 years hands-on AWS experience - Minimum 2 Google Cloud Professional certifications - Advanced Kubernetes and Terraform skills - Experience with Datadog, Groundcover or similar observability tools - JIRA proficiency - Ability to participate in on-call rotation to cover for teammates during vacation time. - Excellent english communication - Experience leading incident response under pressure Nice to have: - Experience with incident.io - Experience with Argo CD - Experience with GitLab CI/CD or similar CI/CD platforms - Active AWS certifications - Previous experience working for an MSP, managed-services provider, or shared-services organization - Experience supporting multiple customer environments simultaneously
