Senior BI Developer

Job Description: Senior BI Developer / Data & Analytics Engineer Position Overview We are looking for a Senior BI Developer / Data & Analytics Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise business intelligence solutions across Finance, Sales, Operations, HR/Payroll, and other business functions. This is not a visualization-only Power BI role. The successful candidate will work across the full data lifecycle—from source systems and Azure Data Factory pipelines through the Enterprise Data Warehouse, semantic models, data-quality controls, and executive reporting. The role will be responsible for delivering governed, reliable, and scalable analytics solutions that support executive dashboards, departmental scorecards, operational reporting, enterprise KPIs, and business-performance analytics. Key Responsibilities Business Intelligence & Power BI Design and develop enterprise Power BI dashboards, scorecards, and operational reports. Build reusable and governed Power BI semantic models. Develop advanced DAX measures, calculations, KPIs, and business logic. Implement relationships, drill-through, row-level security, and other Power BI capabilities. Optimize report and semantic-model performance. Manage refresh processes, deployment practices, and reusable enterprise datasets. Ensure consistent KPI definitions across dashboards and business functions. Data Engineering & ETL/ELT Design, develop, and support data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF). Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes from enterprise source systems into the EDW. Implement incremental loads, scheduling, dependencies, parameterization, error handling, retries, and monitoring. Troubleshoot data pipeline and integration failures. Trace reporting issues from the dashboard through the semantic model, warehouse, pipeline, and originating source system. Support production data integrations and operational monitoring. SQL & Data Modeling Develop complex SQL/T-SQL queries, views, transformations, and data validation logic. Design and maintain dimensional and analytical data models. Work with fact and dimension tables, business keys, surrogate keys, historical data, and slowly changing dimensions. Optimize queries and data-processing workloads. Develop warehouse structures that support cross-system enterprise reporting. Data Quality & Reconciliation Develop data-quality, validation, and reconciliation frameworks. Investigate discrepancies between source systems, integration pipelines, EDW data, semantic models, and reports. Monitor duplicate records, missing records, failed transactions, outliers, and synchronization issues. Build reporting around integration and data-quality health. Establish source-to-target traceability and reconciliation processes. Ensure reporting datasets are accurate, consistent, and trustworthy. Enterprise Analytics Develop analytics across Finance, Revenue, Sales, Workforce, Labor, Operations, Inventory, and Customer Performance. Support cross-system reporting such as: Labor cost vs. revenue by service line Customer profitability Asset maintenance cost vs. budget Revenue and financial performance Workforce and labor analytics Operational and fulfillment performance Translate business requirements into scalable analytical solutions. The current architecture specifically establishes Azure Data Factory → Enterprise Data Warehouse → Power BI/reporting, so technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, Tableau, or Qlik should not be treated as mandatory requirements unless the architecture changes. Required Qualifications Strong professional experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, or a related field. Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI and DAX. Strong SQL/T-SQL development skills. Demonstrated experience with enterprise data modeling and data warehouses. Hands-on experience developing production-grade Azure Data Factory pipelines. Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration. Experience troubleshooting data-quality and source-to-report discrepancies. Understanding of KPI governance, data lineage, systems of record, and certified datasets. Ability to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CRM, ERP, workforce/payroll, and operational data. Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, and UKG Ready. Experience working with financial and operational datasets. Experience implementing data reconciliation and exception reporting. Experience with enterprise reporting governance and security. Experience supporting executive-level reporting and enterprise KPI programs. Reduce conflicting KPI definitions across reports. Improve data quality and source-to-report traceability. Build robust and maintainable ADF/EDW pipelines. Quickly diagnose whether a reporting issue originates in the source system, pipeline, warehouse, semantic model, DAX, or visualization. Partner effectively with Finance, Sales, Operations, HR/Payroll, and technical system owners. Important Role Expectation This is not a report-writer or visualization-only Power BI position.
