Senior Digital Designer / Art Director for Premium Sports Agency Website
Worldwide
Senior Digital Designer Art Director for Premium Sports Agency Website We are building the website for a new premium international sports marketing agency and are looking for a senior digital designer with exceptional taste in typography, art direction and web design. The creative direction is already relatively developed. We are not looking for someone to select a template, adapt a design system, or quickly assemble a site in Framer or Webflow. We are looking for someone who can help create a distinctive digital identity and website experience from first principles Development will be handled separately by a front-end developer, so your focus should be entirely on design quality, art direction, interaction thinking and originality. Creative Direction The website should feel: Premium International Confident Restrained Editorial Contemporary Culturally relevant Connected to sport without relying on sports clichés The visual language will rely heavily on: Typography Art direction Strong visual hierarchy Sports photography and video Negative space Editorial composition Motion and interaction Pacing Restraint We are interested in a website with a strong point of view rather than something that follows established agency site conventions. It should not feel like: a SaaS startup a generic marketing agency a Framer/Webflow template an AI-generated website a component-library exercise an over-designed creative portfolio a conventional corporate sports website What We Need We are primarily looking for someone to own the digital design and art direction of the project. The work may include: Translating an existing brand direction into a unique digital language Exploring original layout and interaction concepts UX and information hierarchy High-fidelity website design Responsive/mobile design Typography system Photography and video treatment Motion and interaction concepts Navigation concepts Reusable design components where appropriate Detailed Figma files ready for custom front-end development The exact creative brief, website structure, brand identity and visual references will be shared with shortlisted candidates. Who We Are Looking For We are particularly interested in designers whose work sits somewhere between: Digital art direction Editorial design Interactive design Brand design High-end web design Relevant experience may come from: Sports Fashion Entertainment Culture Luxury Music Editorial Premium consumer brands We care significantly more about taste, composition, typography and original thinking than how many websites you have produced. We are not looking for a designer whose primary value proposition is: "I can design and build your website in Framer/Webflow.” The website will ultimately be custom-developed. We want the designer to think beyond the constraints of a no-code platform and create the strongest experience possible, while still designing something that can be implemented intelligently by a front-end developer. You should also be comfortable working with a founder who already has a strong creative point of view. We want collaboration and constructive disagreement where it improves the work. Required Skills Exceptional digital/web design Strong digital art direction Excellent typography Strong composition and visual hierarchy Editorial design sensibility Responsive design Figma Ability to art-direct photography and video Strong understanding of interaction and motion Ability to communicate design intent clearly to a front-end developer Strong Advantage Experience with: Highly interactive websites Creative development teams Motion-led digital experiences GSAP / WebGL / Three.js concepts Video-led websites Sports or entertainment brands You do not need to be a developer. Understanding what is technically possible on the modern web is valuable, but the priority for this role is design. When Applying Please do not send a generic introduction or your entire portfolio. Instead: 1. Send your 3 most relevant projects. 2. Explain briefly why you selected each one. 3. Tell us what separates a genuinely premium website from one that is simply clean or minimal. 4. Show us one project where typography or art direction carried most of the experience. 5. Tell us about one website you admire because of its digital art direction, and explain why. 6. Tell us how you approach designing interactions or motion when you are not responsible for development. Please begin your proposal with the word GAME so we know you have read the brief. We are open to working internationally. Creative fit and quality of thinking matter more than location.
