Senior Electronics Engineer / Product Development Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer / Product Development Engineer for an ongoing contractor relationship supporting client product-development projects. Candidates must have prior experience working directly with U.S.-based clients and supporting product development projects in the United States. This is not intended to be a one-time project. We are looking for an engineer we can build a long-term working relationship with. As new projects come in, you will work under our brand as part of our engineering team and remain involved with each assigned project through completion. You may work directly with our leadership, other engineers, manufacturers, and clients. Responsibilities * Electronics product development from concept through prototype, validation, and production * Review client requirements, specifications, and existing engineering documentation * Schematic design and review * PCB architecture, component selection, placement, and routing * KiCad schematic and PCB development * BOM development, approved alternates, lifecycle review, and component-risk evaluation * Analog, digital, embedded, sensor, and power-related circuit design * Design for Manufacturability (DFM) * Design for Assembly (DFA) * Design for Test (DFT) * Prototype support and board bring-up * Troubleshooting, testing, and design validation * Manufacturing documentation and production-release packages * Coordination with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines * Support engineering changes and revisions through final project completion * Maintain clean, organized native engineering files and documentation Ongoing Relationship We are looking for an engineer who can become a dependable extension of our engineering team. When a new client project is awarded, work will be assigned based on your experience and availability. Once assigned, we expect you to stay engaged with the project and work with our team through successful completion. Successful performance can lead to continued work across multiple projects. All client-facing work will be performed professionally under our brand. Client Communication & Professionalism Some projects will require direct interaction with clients. You must be: * Comfortable participating in client video calls * Professional when representing our company and brand * Available for scheduled meetings during U.S. Eastern Time business hours * Responsive during agreed working hours * Able to clearly explain engineering decisions, risks, and project status * Available for design reviews and milestone meetings when required * Comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical clients You will also be expected to: * Respond to internal team and client communications in a timely and professional manner * Maintain clear and consistent communication throughout the project * Keep clients informed of progress, risks, questions, and upcoming deliverables * Respond promptly to client questions and concerns * Address issues quickly and work collaboratively to keep projects moving forward * Help maintain a positive client experience by being dependable, professional, and solution-oriented * Build strong client relationships through reliability, communication, and quality work * Represent our brand professionally in all client interactions * Help ensure clients are satisfied with both the technical work and the overall project experience Project Expectations You must be able to: * Meet agreed project deadlines and milestones * Deliver work on time * Stay within the assigned project scope * Work within the approved engineering budget * Accurately estimate engineering effort before beginning major tasks * Communicate immediately if schedule, scope, cost, or technical risks arise * Provide regular progress updates * Take ownership of assigned deliverables through completion * Correct deficiencies related to the agreed scope * Maintain confidentiality regarding our clients, projects, and technical information * Work independently while also collaborating effectively with the broader engineering team * Follow through on commitments and communicate early if something may affect a deadline Required Experience * Strong professional electronics engineering background * Experience developing electronic products from concept through production * Strong KiCad experience * Schematic capture and PCB layout experience * Multilayer PCB design experience * Component selection and BOM development * Prototype bring-up and troubleshooting * DFM, DFA, and DFT experience * Manufacturing and production-release experience * Understanding of grounding, EMI/EMC, signal integrity, power integrity, and PCB design best practices * Experience working with PCB manufacturers and contract manufacturers * Strong technical documentation skills Preferred Experience * Consumer electronics * Embedded systems * Sensors and mixed-signal electronics * Power-management circuits * Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other wireless technologies * Microcontroller-based products * Regulatory/compliance preparation * Design verification and validation * Manufacturing test development * Cost optimization and value engineering * Mechanical/electrical product integration Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone with real product-development experience who has helped take physical electronic products from concept through prototype and into production.
