Senior Fire TV App Developer / Android TV Developer (Kotlin)

We are completely rebuilding our Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV apps from scratch. We just finished building our own custom headless OTT video CMS. It is now the single source of truth that powers our desktop site, mobile apps, and will soon power all TV platforms. Categories, collections, content blocks, videos, and the recommendation engine are all managed through this system. The Role You will own the from-scratch development of our new Fire TV app. The UI/UX must closely match our new desktop experience. We used HBO Max as our primary style and interaction reference. You will need to study the current Roku version of similar apps to internalize the 10-foot design language we want. You will work directly with our full-stack developer on any API needs. Video delivery is handled by Mux. Key Responsibilities • Build a production-ready native Fire TV app in Kotlin using modern Android TV practices • Integrate with our headless CMS API for catalog, categories, collections, content blocks, search, and recommendations • Implement high-quality video playback and player controls using Mux • Create a polished 10-foot UI with proper focus navigation and remote control support • Optimize performance and experience for Fire TV devices • Handle Amazon Appstore submission and requirements • Move fast — our current third-party platform contract ends October 2 Requirements • Strong, recent experience shipping real Fire TV or Android TV apps to the Amazon Appstore • Excellent Kotlin skills • Solid experience with video streaming apps (ExoPlayer or equivalent) • Understanding of OTT catalog structures and content discovery patterns • Ability to work independently and ship under a hard deadline
