Senior Linux System Administrator Location: 100% Remote - USA/Canada/India/LATAM Project Duration: 1-3 Months Hourly Pay (C2C): USD $25-35/Hr. Work Hours & Timing: 8 Hours/Day & EST Hours Role Summary: As a Senior Linux System Administrator, you will play a key role in maintaining, evolving, securing, and automating Client's Linux infrastructure supporting critical business applications across corporate distribution centers, and e-commerce environments. You will work closely with infrastructure, application, cloud, security, storage, backup, networking, and disaster recovery teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and resiliency of our Linux platforms. Responsibilities: • Administer and support enterprise Linux environments in production, development, testing, and disaster recovery environments. • Manage physical servers, virtual machines, and container-based platforms. • Support Kubernetes and containerized workloads running on enterprise platforms. • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux operating systems and related infrastructure services. • Perform operating system upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and vulnerability remediation. • Ensure compliance with security standards, hardening practices, and corporate policies. • Monitor system performance, capacity, availability, and operational health. • Participate in root cause analysis and problem management for critical incidents. • Manage authentication, access control, privilege management, and system auditing. • Support enterprise storage integrations, SAN, NAS, NFS, and related Linux services. • Collaborate with backup, recovery, and resilience teams to ensure systems are protected and recoverable. • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing, documentation, and recovery exercises. • Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, AWX, and scripting technologies. • Support automated patching, provisioning, compliance, and configuration management platforms. • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks. • Collaborate with project teams to design and deploy infrastructure solutions for new applications and business initiatives. • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to peers and operational teams. • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical business services. What You Will Work With- • Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Oracle Linux, Ubuntu Linux and others • VMware virtualization platforms • Kubernetes and container platforms • Ansible / AWX • Katello / Foreman • Zabbix monitoring • Active Directory integration • Storage and backup infrastructures • Enterprise Disaster Recovery solutions • Infrastructure automation and scripting Required Experience and Skills: • 5+ years of hands-on Linux administration experience in medium to large enterprise environments. • Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, and/or Ubuntu. • Experience managing both physical and virtual Linux infrastructures. • Experience supporting containerized environments and Kubernetes platforms. • Experience with Linux patching, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening. • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, routing, load balancing, and firewall concepts. • Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and AWX. • Experience with VMware virtualization platforms. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Experience working in production environments with high availability requirements. • Excellent communication and documentation skills. Asset: • Experience with Rancher or Kubernetes administration. • Experience with Katello / Foreman. • Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms such as Zabbix. • Knowledge of storage technologies, SAN, NAS, and NFS. • Experience participating in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity exercises. • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell. • Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, LFCS, LFCE) are considered an asset.
