Senior Mobile Developer — Telematics App No Agency

We are seeking an experienced senior mobile developer to take ownership of an existing, production telematics application for iOS and Android. This is not a greenfield project. You will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and expanding a live application used to monitor connected vehicles and equipment in the field. The ideal candidate is comfortable entering an established codebase, quickly diagnosing issues, and delivering stable, reliable updates to both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Responsibilities Maintain, modify, and enhance an existing cross-platform telematics application for iOS and Android Develop and support Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Android Automotive OS functionality Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot cloud-based push notifications using APNs and Firebase Cloud Messaging Improve notification delivery reliability, user targeting, and alert handling Integrate the mobile application with backend telematics services and real-time vehicle and device data, including location, status, and alerts Manage App Store and Google Play submissions, version updates, and release processes Investigate production issues reported by users in the field and deliver timely, reliable fixes Document technical changes and communicate clearly with a small, distributed development team Take ownership of the mobile codebase and help establish sound development and release practices Required Qualifications At least 6 years of professional mobile development experience Demonstrated experience shipping and supporting applications in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Automotive or telematics experience is required, including experience with connected vehicles, fleet tracking, GPS or asset tracking, OBD systems, IoT devices, or similar technologies Hands-on experience with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto or Android Automotive OS Proven experience implementing and managing push notifications through APNs, Firebase Cloud Messaging, or comparable platforms Strong experience with Flutter or React Native Working proficiency in native iOS development using Swift and native Android development using Kotlin Experience integrating REST APIs and working with real-time communication technologies such as WebSockets, MQTT, or similar protocols Ability to independently manage an existing codebase and make sound technical decisions Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills Dependable, self-directed, and comfortable working with a distributed team Preferred Experience Bluetooth and BLE device discovery, pairing, and communication Background location tracking and battery-efficient geolocation Offline-first application design and data synchronization Mobile CI/CD tools such as Fastlane, Bitrise, GitHub Actions, or similar Experience integrating mobile applications with AWS-based cloud services
