Summary

IR Illumination Design Review Consultant for Camera Imaging System We need a senior optical engineer to review and improve the IR illumination design of an existing medical imaging camera system. Our team has developed an initial IR illumination pattern for the system, but we are seeing non-uniform illumination across the camera's field of view at working distance. We need an experienced optical engineer to review our existing illumination design, prototype, and test data, identify the root cause of the non-uniformity, and provide a validated solution. Scope of work: Review existing IR illumination design, prototype hardware, and test data already generated by our internal team. Simulate and validate illumination uniformity across the working distance and field of view using an appropriate optical design tool (Zemax, LightTools, TracePro, or equivalent). Identify the cause of non-uniform illumination and propose a corrected design, including specific IR LED placement recommendations and diffuser material selection with sourcing guidance. Deliver a written simulation and validation report along with clear, actionable design recommendations our team can implement directly. System specifications: IR wavelength: 850nm Camera field of view: 26 degrees Working distance: 6.5 to 10.5 inches Goal: Uniform IR illumination across the full field of view at the specified working distance range Deliverables: Optical simulation report (from Zemax, LightTools, TracePro, or similar tool) showing current design analysis and proposed corrected design. IR LED placement recommendations. Diffuser material recommendation with sourcing information. Ideal experience: Strong background in IR illumination design and optical simulation tools. Experience with camera-based imaging systems, ideally in medical or precision imaging applications. Comfortable working independently from existing design data and test results, with minimal ramp-up time. Please share relevant experience with IR illumination design and simulation tools when applying, along with your estimated timeline to complete this scope. Skills: Optical Engineering, IR Illumination Design, Optical Simulation, Zemax, LightTools, Photonics, Camera Systems, Opto-Mechanical Design, Medical Imaging, LED Design
