Senior Project Manager – Nationwide Field Service and Technology Deployments
Worldwide
We are an established nationwide field service organization supporting technology installation and service projects across the United States. Our projects involve commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers, buses, heavy equipment, facilities, and other field-deployed assets. Typical deployments may include telematics, GPS equipment, dash cameras, RFID, IoT devices, sensors, vehicle electronics, and related technology. We are looking for a strong, experienced Project Manager who can take ownership of projects from the initial quoting stage through final completion and invoicing. This is not an entry-level project management position. We need someone who understands field operations, can build accurate project quotes, communicate directly with customers, coordinate technicians and internal teams, protect project margins, and keep complex deployments moving. Primary Responsibilities Project Quoting and Planning • Review customer requests, scopes of work, vehicle lists, equipment lists, and installation requirements • Identify missing information, risks, assumptions, and potential scope gaps before pricing a project • Build accurate project quotes based on labor, technician capacity, travel, location count, project density, equipment requirements, and schedule expectations • Estimate technician hours, production rates, travel requirements, project duration, and staffing needs • Develop per-install pricing, fixed project pricing, trip charges, travel allowances, and other pricing structures • Ensure quotes account for project management time, technician labor, travel, shipping, consumables, risk, and company margin • Clearly document assumptions, exclusions, customer responsibilities, and change-order requirements • Work with leadership to review and approve pricing before quotes are submitted Project Management • Manage projects from award and kickoff through scheduling, deployment, completion, and closeout • Create detailed project plans, staffing plans, deployment schedules, and completion forecasts • Coordinate internal operations, scheduling, warehouse, shipping, field technicians, subcontractors when applicable, and customer contacts • Confirm all hardware, installation materials, vehicle information, site contacts, and project requirements are ready before technicians are dispatched • Track project progress, completion rates, technician performance, outstanding issues, and customer deliverables • Maintain accurate project notes, documentation, trackers, reports, and work-order information • Lead customer kickoff calls, status meetings, escalation calls, and project closeout discussions • Provide clear and consistent updates to customers and company leadership • Identify delays, scope changes, resource constraints, and budget risks before they become larger problems • Manage change orders and additional work that falls outside the approved scope • Ensure completed work is properly documented and ready for invoicing Field Operations Management • Coordinate nationwide technicians across multiple markets and time zones • Determine appropriate technician staffing based on project size, geography, complexity, and schedule • Monitor technician productivity and compare actual production against quoted production rates • Resolve field issues involving vehicles, hardware, installation requirements, customer availability, missing equipment, and site access • Ensure technicians receive complete scopes, installation instructions, contacts, addresses, schedules, and equipment before deployment • Review installation documentation, photographs, work-order notes, and completion records • Help enforce quality standards and reduce repeat visits, incomplete work, and avoidable service calls • Coordinate corrective action when field work does not meet project or customer expectations Customer and Financial Management • Serve as a primary customer contact for assigned projects • Build strong working relationships while maintaining control of scope, schedule, and financial expectations • Track quoted costs against actual labor, travel, shipping, and project expenses • Understand project margins and make decisions that protect profitability • Recognize when customer requests require additional pricing or a formal change order • Review completed project information for invoicing accuracy • Assist with resolving billing questions, project disputes, and completion discrepancies • Maintain professional communication during escalations and high-pressure situations Required Experience • At least 5 years of project management experience in field services, transportation technology, fleet services, telematics, automotive electronics, logistics, construction, telecommunications, utilities, or a similar operational industry • Proven experience building project quotes, estimates, budgets, or statements of work • Experience managing field technicians, installers, service professionals, or distributed workforces • Experience managing multi-location or nationwide deployments • Strong understanding of labor costing, travel expenses, production rates, project margins, and change orders • Experience communicating directly with enterprise customers • Strong written and spoken English • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Ability to manage multiple active projects without losing control of details • Comfortable making phone calls, leading meetings, and handling difficult customer conversations • Strong computer skills and experience using project management, CRM, scheduling, work-order, and spreadsheet systems • Advanced proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets • Ability to create professional quotes, project plans, customer updates, and project reports Preferred Experience • Experience with GPS, telematics, dash cameras, fleet technology, vehicle electronics, RFID, IoT, or mobile hardware deployments • Experience working with commercial fleets, trucking companies, school buses, delivery fleets, utilities, heavy equipment, or transportation organizations • Experience managing installation projects where vehicles or assets must remain operational • Experience coordinating warehouse, kitting, inventory, and equipment shipments • Experience using RingCentral • Experience working with mobile field-service applications or work-order management platforms • Experience reviewing installation photos and quality-control documentation • Experience managing projects with aggressive deadlines and changing customer requirements The Right Person for This Position The right person will be highly organized, direct, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership. You should be able to receive a customer request, determine what information is missing, build a realistic quote, create the project plan, organize the resources, communicate with the customer, manage the deployment, protect the project margin, and see the work through to completion. You must be comfortable asking difficult questions before a project begins. We do not want someone who simply accepts an incomplete scope, sends technicians into the field, and deals with the financial consequences afterward. You should understand that successful field-service project management requires more than maintaining a task list. It requires operational judgment, financial awareness, detailed documentation, strong customer communication, and the ability to make decisions quickly. Working Hours The position will primarily operate during U.S. Eastern Time business hours. Candidates must have availability that overlaps significantly with Eastern Time and must be able to support occasional early-morning, evening, or weekend activity when active projects require it. This is expected to be a long-term position for the right person.
