Senior React Product Engineer Needed for Configurable AI Healthcare Workspace
Worldwide
I’m a physician building a clinical documentation and workflow application designed around how physicians actually work. I have a functional React/TypeScript prototype built with Lovable that is already being tested in real clinical workflows. I am now looking for an experienced frontend/product engineer to help turn the prototype into a polished, modular, configurable application. This is not a project to rebuild the application from scratch. The goal is to review the existing codebase, preserve what works, and design a frontend architecture that allows individual users to customize the application to fit their own workflow. The Product Direction Most clinical software forces users to adapt to a predetermined interface. I want to approach this differently. The long-term goal is for a physician to be able to create a workspace that fits how they work at a particular hospital or practice. For example, a user might eventually be able to: Rearrange or resize sections of the workspace Show or hide modules they do not use Configure quick-action buttons Customize documentation sections and workflow Save multiple workspace configurations Duplicate a workspace and modify it for another hospital or practice Restore a workspace to a known/default configuration Eventually, I would like users to be able to describe changes in natural language, such as: "Move disposition underneath MDM, hide this section, and add quick buttons for critical care and cardioversion." The application would translate that request into an approved workspace configuration rather than generating arbitrary application code. The immediate project is not to build all of these features. I want the underlying frontend architecture designed correctly so that we can build toward this without repeatedly rebuilding the application. Current Stack The existing application uses: React TypeScript Lovable GitHub Browser/local state for clinical encounter data A separate engineer/architect is handling the secure AWS/backend/AI infrastructure. This role will primarily focus on the frontend application and configurable workspace architecture, not the clinical AI/security backend. Initial Paid Milestone I would like to begin with a paid code and architecture review. The first milestone should include: Review the existing React/TypeScript/Lovable codebase. Identify important technical debt or architectural risks. Recommend a modular component architecture for the application. Design an approach for user-specific workspace configuration. Recommend how layouts, modules, actions, templates, and user preferences should be represented and persisted. Explain how drag/drop and resizing could be safely implemented without making the application fragile. Recommend boundaries between application code and user configuration. Evaluate how continued Lovable development can coexist safely with direct GitHub development. Provide an implementation roadmap for converting the existing prototype into the configurable architecture without unnecessarily rebuilding working functionality. A short written architecture document and a video or live walkthrough of the recommendations would be ideal. If the architecture review goes well, I would like to continue with the same developer for implementation. What I’m Looking For Strong experience with: React TypeScript Modern frontend architecture Component-driven application design Complex state management Configurable/dynamic interfaces Git/GitHub workflows Refactoring and improving existing applications Particularly interested in developers who have built: Dashboard builders Form builders Page/layout builders Low-code/no-code products Modular SaaS applications Drag-and-drop interfaces Highly configurable enterprise applications Experience with Lovable or other AI-assisted development tools is helpful but not required. Healthcare experience is helpful but not required. Strong product engineering and frontend architecture experience are more important for this role. Important I am not looking for: A WordPress/marketing website developer Someone to rebuild the application from scratch A developer whose primary experience is simple websites Someone who wants to replace the existing architecture before understanding it Someone to redesign the clinical AI/backend infrastructure I want an experienced product engineer who can look at an existing working prototype and help establish a strong foundation for a much more configurable product. Please Answer These Questions 1. Have you built a product where users could substantially customize their own interface or workflow? Please describe exactly what users could customize and how you architected it. 2. How would you approach a React application where the UI needs to render from a user-specific configuration rather than being entirely hard-coded? A high-level explanation is fine. 3. Have you implemented drag-and-drop/resizable dashboard or workspace interfaces? If so, what libraries or architecture did you use, and what problems did you encounter? 4. Have you taken over or refactored an application originally built using an AI development tool such as Lovable, Bolt, Replit, v0, Cursor, etc.? What did you keep, and what did you change? 5. Please provide an example of the most relevant application you have personally built. A live product, GitHub repository, screenshots, or short video is preferable to a generic portfolio. 6. For the initial architecture/code-review milestone, approximately how many hours would you expect to need? Please begin your proposal with the word ELK so I know you read the posting. Engagement I expect the initial engagement to be approximately 5–10 hours for architecture/code review and planning. There is substantial follow-on development available if we work well together and the proposed architecture makes sense. I care much more about finding the right engineer than finding the lowest hourly rate.
