Senior SEO Content Strategist and Writer for Search and AI Visibility

We are looking for an experienced SEO Content Strategist and Writer to create authoritative content that improves our visibility across traditional search engines and AI-powered search platforms. The company name will remain confidential during the initial application stage. We are an established, growth-focused business investing heavily in organic visibility and high-quality content. Additional information about the company, industry, audience, and existing content operation will be shared with selected candidates. What You’ll Own You will manage the complete content process, from researching opportunities and developing outlines to writing, optimizing, publishing, and improving existing articles. Your responsibilities will include: - Researching topics, keywords, competitors, search intent, and audience questions - Developing SEO content strategies and publishing roadmaps - Creating detailed briefs and outlines based on search intent - Writing clear, engaging, and well-researched blog posts - Incorporating credible studies, statistics, examples, and expert sources - Optimizing content for Google, Bing, and AI-powered search experiences - Structuring articles so search engines and AI systems can understand and reference them - Writing titles, headings, metadata, introductions, calls to action, and supporting copy - Building internal-linking plans and identifying content gaps - Updating existing articles that have lost traffic, rankings, or relevance - Reviewing content performance through Google Search Console, GA4, and SEO platforms - Tracking rankings, organic traffic, conversions, featured snippets, citations, and AI-search visibility - Collaborating with subject-matter experts, editors, designers, and other marketing team members - Maintaining a consistent brand voice across the blog What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate has: - At least five years of professional content writing, copywriting, or SEO content experience - A strong portfolio of long-form articles and search-focused content - Experience creating content that has generated rankings, traffic, leads, or revenue - A clear understanding of search intent, topical authority, on-page SEO, internal linking, and content decay - Familiarity with AI search optimization, answer engines, and generative search experiences - Strong research, fact-checking, editing, and source-evaluation skills - The ability to explain complex subjects clearly without making the writing feel generic - Experience using Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar platforms - Strong written English and close attention to grammar, structure, flow, and accuracy - The ability to use AI tools responsibly while maintaining originality, expertise, and editorial quality Experience working with SaaS, technology, B2B, e-commerce, finance, healthcare, or other research-heavy industries would be valuable. Compensation and Engagement The budget for this role is $300 per 2000 word article, depending on experience, portfolio quality, availability, and the level of strategic ownership you can take. We are open to a dedicated monthly engagement or a full-time working arrangement through Upwork. This is intended to become a long-term collaboration with the right person. In your proposal, add: 1.
