Summary

About us We are a healthcare and life sciences marketing agency serving pharma, biotech, and medtech clients. AI is central to how we operate and how we grow, and part of that work is what we call AI Builds: custom, client-facing SaaS-style applications, including intelligence dashboards, research tools, and workflow platforms, built for commercial, medical affairs, and market access teams inside pharma organizations. All of it runs in a regulated, security-conscious environment. The role Our AI Builds are engineered first: functionality, data structure, and logic are defined and built by our development team before design enters the picture. We are looking for one long-term freelance designer to own the UX/UI layer across these projects, taking prewritten, functional prototypes and turning them into polished, brand-consistent interfaces that a pharma commercial or medical affairs audience will trust. This is not a one-off project. We want someone who stays engaged across multiple builds over months and years, develops a real feel for our clients' industry and users, and becomes the person we default to whenever a new AI Build needs a design pass. What you'll work on Redesigning and refining data-dense dashboards, multi-step workflows, and enterprise tools inside Figma, working from functional click-through prototypes and written brand guidelines we provide. Typical projects involve information-heavy screens, including KPI dashboards, insight feeds, asset libraries, research hubs, and scenario/simulation flows, where the core design challenge is hierarchy and clarity, not decoration. You'll build and maintain component libraries and design systems inside Figma, produce high-fidelity mockups and interaction specs for handoff, and design empty, loading, and error states alongside primary flows. You will not be implementing your designs in code; final delivery is always a Figma file, reviewed and handed to our development team for build. Required experience You should have a strong, demonstrable portfolio of SaaS or enterprise dashboard design, with real complexity, not marketing sites or landing pages. Deep fluency in Figma, including components, variants, and auto layout, is required. You should be comfortable designing inside an existing brand system rather than inventing one from scratch, and confident handling information-dense, data-heavy interfaces without leaning on decoration to compensate for weak hierarchy. You must have excellent written English. Most collaboration happens asynchronously, with feedback delivered through Figma comments and Slack, and clear communication is non-negotiable. Strongly preferred Prior design work in healthcare, pharma, life sciences, or another regulated or professionally skeptical audience (fintech, legal, enterprise data tools). Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG AA) as a default design constraint, not an afterthought. Experience designing alongside a development team under a defined design system, and producing developer-ready specs without doing the implementation yourself. How we work All AI Build design work is delivered as Figma files reviewed by our team before anything moves to development. You will not have access to production data or client systems, and all project materials are anonymized or fictionalized for confidentiality. An NDA is required for every engagement. That said, this role is explicitly designed to grow. Designers who demonstrate strong judgment, reliability, and design system thinking across an initial project or two will be brought onto a steady rotation of AI Build work and looped in earlier, during scoping and brand development, rather than only at the design-execution stage. Engagement details Long-term, project-based freelance work with a flow of AI Build engagements rather than a single continuous assignment. Time commitment varies by project, typically 10 to 20 hours per week during an active build, with gaps between projects. Overlap with US Eastern business hours is preferred for review calls and live feedback sessions.
