Summary

We are looking for an experienced tax professional to support complex individual and business clients with tax planning, review, and advisory work across multiple entities. This is not an entry level tax preparation role. We need someone who can look beyond an individual return, understand how multiple entities and ownership structures interact, identify tax planning opportunities and risks, and provide practical recommendations. What You'll Work On 1. Tax planning involving S Corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and individuals 2. Multi entity tax situations involving related businesses, owners, and family structures 3. Review and analysis of Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, and 1120S 4. Trust and estate income taxation, distributions, beneficiary considerations, and related reporting 5. Partnership allocations, basis considerations, distributions, and K1 implications 6. S Corporation shareholder basis, distributions, reasonable compensation, and planning considerations 7. Owner level tax implications across multiple entities 8. Estimated tax and year end tax planning 9. Identifying planning opportunities before returns are prepared 10. Reviewing completed work and identifying inconsistencies, missing information, or tax exposure 11. Researching technical tax questions and documenting recommendations 12. Explaining complex tax matters clearly to firm leadership and clients when appropriate What We're Looking For You should have substantial hands on experience with complex U.S. taxation, particularly where several entity types interact. Strong candidates will have: 5+ years of relevant U.S. tax experience preferred Significant experience with S Corporations and partnerships Hands on experience with trust and estate taxation Experience reviewing, not only preparing, complex tax returns Experience advising clients with multiple related entities Strong understanding of pass through taxation and owner level consequences Ability to identify tax planning opportunities rather than simply process historical information Experience working directly with business owners and/or high net worth individuals Strong tax research and documentation skills Ability to work independently and explain the reasoning behind recommendations CPA, EA, or JD/LLM in Taxation is strongly preferred, but we will consider candidates with exceptional directly relevant experience. This Role Is Probably Not a Fit If Your experience is primarily individual 1040 preparation You have prepared business returns but have limited experience reviewing them Your trust and estate exposure is limited to basic return preparation You have not advised on multi entity tax situations You require detailed instructions to identify tax issues or planning opportunities When Applying, Please Answer These 5 Questions 1. Trusts & Estates Describe your hands on experience with trust and estate taxation. Which forms and types of trust or estate matters have you personally prepared, reviewed, or advised on? 2. S Corporations Give one example of a planning or review issue you have handled involving an S Corporation. What did you identify, and what action did you recommend? 3. Partnerships Describe your experience with partnership taxation, including K1s, partner basis, allocations, distributions, or other complex partnership matters. 4. Multi Entity Planning Describe one client situation where you had to evaluate the tax implications of multiple entities and/or owners together rather than reviewing each return independently. 5. Level of Responsibility For Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, and 1120S, identify your experience with each as: Prepared / Reviewed / Final Sign Off or Advisory / No Experience Please keep your answers concise and specific. Real examples are more valuable than general descriptions. Engagement This is a remote contract opportunity with the potential for ongoing work. We are primarily interested in professionals who can operate at a senior reviewer and advisor level and become a dependable resource for complex tax matters.
