Senior Tracking & Data Architecture Engineer (Meta CAPI, Server-Side GTM)
Worldwide
We are currently driving significant volume on Meta Ads to our funnelish ecommerce offer. While our in-house backend reporting is highly accurate, our current Meta ad account tracking is feeding flawed data back to the platform's machine learning algorithm. We are looking for a highly technical Tracking & Data Architecture Engineer to completely overhaul our Meta data pipeline. We are not budget-sensitive for this project; our sole priority is 100% data fidelity, precise event deduplication, and maximizing Event Match Quality (EMQ) to optimize for Value-Based Bidding (VBO). Please note: This is a purely technical data and tracking role. We do not need a media buyer, an ad copywriter, or an account manager. We need a tracking infrastructure expert. The Core Challenges You Will Solve The Upsell Duplication Issue: Currently, post-purchase upsells are triggering multiple "Purchase" events, artificially inflating our conversion volume and driving the algorithm to optimize for the wrong buyer profile. Missing Conversion Values: We are not passing dynamic conversion values back to Meta, severely limiting our ability to optimize for Return on Ad Spend (ROAS). Key Responsibilities Complete Tracking Audit: Audit our current browser Pixel, checkout data layer, and third-party tracking apps to identify data leaks and inaccuracies. Server-Side Infrastructure: Deploy and configure a robust Server-Side Google Tag Manager (sGTM) environment (via Google Cloud, Stape.io, or similar). Meta Conversions API (CAPI) Integration: Build a flawless, server-to-server CAPI pipeline that runs in parallel with the browser Pixel. Strict Deduplication: Engineer unique event_id parameters across all events to ensure zero double-counting between browser and server events. Complex Funnel Mapping: Re-architect our data layer so that post-purchase upsell funnels correctly pass total cart value without inflating the core "Purchase" event volume. Advanced Matching: Ensure secure hashing and transmission of first-party customer data to achieve a 8.0+ Event Match Quality (EMQ) score on Meta. Required Skills & Experience Proven, highly technical experience setting up Server-Side GTM and Meta CAPI for high-volume e-commerce or complex funnel businesses. Mastery of Data Layer architecture, JavaScript, and JSON formatting. Deep understanding of Meta’s machine learning algorithm, specifically how event firing, deduplication, and value passing impact Value-Based Optimization (VBO). Ability to bypass standard "plug-and-play" apps and custom-code tracking solutions where necessary. Familiarity with iOS 14+ tracking restrictions, ad-blocker workarounds, and modern privacy protocols (ITP).
