Senior E-commerce Integration Engineer We are building a next-generation cross-border e-commerce platform similar to MallforAfrica (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFIr9Yr6ONU), enabling customers to browse, search, and purchase products from multiple online retailers through a single shopping experience. This is a senior-level role. We are not looking for junior developers or candidates who are learning on the job. You must have successfully built and deployed similar systems in production. What You'll Build You will lead the design and development of our retailer integration platform, allowing customers to browse and purchase products from multiple online stores without leaving our website. Example User Journey Customer visits our platform and selects a retailer (e.g., Macy's, Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, etc.). Customer browses categories or searches for products. Product listings, images, prices, descriptions, and available variants are displayed within our platform. Customer selects options such as size, color, quantity, etc., and adds products to a unified shopping cart. Customer continues shopping across one or multiple retailers. Customer completes checkout and pays through our platform. Orders are processed, purchased from the retailer, shipped to our warehouse for inspection/consolidation, and then forwarded to the customer. Responsibilities Design and build scalable integrations with major e-commerce retailers. Build reliable systems for product search, browsing, product details, variants, pricing, availability, and shopping cart functionality. Design modular, maintainable retailer integration architecture. Handle sessions, authentication, cookies, and modern web security mechanisms where required. Optimize reliability, scalability, and performance. Work closely with our product and engineering teams to build a seamless customer experience. Requirements 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience. Proven experience building production-grade integrations with major e-commerce websites or online marketplaces. Strong understanding of modern web applications, browser behavior, and network communication. Experience extracting and normalizing product information from multiple retailers. Strong experience with Node.js (NestJS preferred), PostgreSQL, Redis, REST APIs, queues, caching, and cloud infrastructure. Ability to design clean, scalable, and maintainable software architectures. Preferred Experience with browser automation, web data extraction, proxy management, and anti-bot protection. Experience building retail automation, purchasing systems, or order fulfillment platforms. Experience building systems that support multiple retailers at scale.
