Shopify App Developer — Build Merchant App to Exclude a Specific Product from Discount Codes

We run a Shopify app that adds a specific product line item to merchants' carts as part of our service. We need a companion merchant-facing app that automatically excludes that specific product from all discount codes on a merchant's store — both existing discount codes and any newly created ones going forward. This is to prevent our product line from being unintentionally discounted. Scope of work Build a lightweight embedded Shopify app that: Authenticates with merchant stores via standard Shopify OAuth (session token auth for embedded apps). On install, scans all existing discount codes (priceRules / discountCodes / automatic discounts) on the merchant's store and modifies each to exclude a specific product from eligibility. Listens for discount-related webhooks (discounts/create, discounts/update, and equivalents for price rules) and automatically applies the same exclusion to any newly created or edited discount going forward. Handles both code-based discounts and automatic discounts, including percentage, fixed-amount, BXGY, and shipping discounts. Provides a simple merchant admin UI (Polaris) showing: install status, number of discounts modified, a manual "re-sync" button, and clear error states. Handles edge cases gracefully: discounts scoped to collections that include our product, app-created discounts, and discounts that can't be modified via API (with clear reporting to the merchant).
