**Shopify Designer/Developer Needed for Brand-Focused Apparel & Lifestyle E-Commerce Site** We are developing the Shopify e-commerce site for **Perspective 8**, an emerging apparel and lifestyle brand centered around perspective, transformation, storytelling, art, and design. We are not looking for a generic dropshipping store, a quickly modified template, or a conversion funnel covered in pop-ups and urgency tactics. We are looking for someone who understands how to build a **brand environment inside Shopify**. Perspective 8 uses apparel as a medium for ideas, experiences, memories, humor, contradictions, and evolving perspectives. The website therefore needs to function effectively as an e-commerce store while also feeling somewhere between a **fashion site, editorial publication, gallery, and evolving archive**. ### What We Want to Accomplish The finished Shopify store should balance: * Strong apparel/product presentation * Brand storytelling * Editorial and lifestyle photography * Collections and releases * Individual product/design stories * Journal or editorial content * Events and physical appearances * Clean, intuitive navigation * Excellent mobile experience * A premium but approachable aesthetic * Easy day-to-day management by our own team * Architecture that can expand as the brand grows We are drawn toward **restraint rather than clutter**: strong imagery, typography, space, thoughtful movement, and an editorial fashion sensibility. The site should feel premium without becoming sterile, overly corporate, or self-important. ### Shopify Scope We anticipate an initial site architecture including: * Homepage * Shop / Collections * Product pages * About / Perspective 8 * Journal / Perspectives * Events * Contact * FAQ * Shipping & Returns * Privacy Policy * Terms of Service The initial product catalog will be relatively modest but should be structured to accommodate substantial future expansion across designs, garment types, colors, sizes, collections, and additional product categories. ### Product & Fulfillment Perspective 8 will use print-on-demand and e-commerce fulfillment workflows. Experience with the following is highly desirable: * Printful * Printify * Shopify product variants * Collections * Metafields * Product filtering * Multi-product / multi-garment catalog organization Experience with Apliiq is a bonus but not required. ### Technical Preferences We strongly prefer a developer who builds primarily using **native Shopify Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks** rather than making the store unnecessarily dependent on third-party page builders. You should be comfortable with: * Shopify theme setup and customization * Online Store 2.0 * Sections and blocks * HTML / CSS * JavaScript * Shopify Liquid, ideally * Responsive/mobile design * Product and collection architecture * Metafields * Shopify apps and integrations * Image optimization * Basic technical SEO * Analytics setup * Performance optimization We are open to beginning with a high-quality premium Shopify theme rather than building an entirely custom theme from scratch. We expect the selected developer to recommend an appropriate theme based on the project's actual requirements. Themes currently under consideration include platforms such as Broadcast, Reformation, Symmetry, Envy, or comparable alternatives, but we are **not committed to any particular theme**. We want your professional recommendation. ### Maintainability Is Important One of our priorities is avoiding unnecessary developer dependency after launch. Our internal team should be able to perform routine tasks such as: * Add products * Create collections * Change homepage imagery * Update banners * Add events * Publish editorial/journal content * Update text * Manage discounts * Rearrange standard Shopify sections without hiring a developer every time. A walkthrough or documentation at project handoff will therefore be required. ### Development & QA Expectations Major changes should be developed on a duplicate/development theme rather than directly on the live storefront. Before launch, we expect a comprehensive QA review covering areas such as: * Desktop layouts * Mobile layouts * Navigation * Broken links * Product variants * Product images * Forms * Collection structure * Cart functionality * Checkout flow * Shipping configuration * Policy-page consistency * Placeholder or missing content * Installed apps/plugins * Basic performance issues ### Apps, Themes & Licensing Perspective 8 must retain ownership and control of its Shopify environment. Any paid theme, app, font, plugin, or third-party service must: * Be disclosed before installation * Include disclosure of recurring costs * Be legitimately licensed * Be purchased/owned through our business account where applicable Please do not propose pirated, nulled, shared, or improperly licensed Shopify themes. We also prefer to minimize unnecessary apps where native Shopify/theme functionality can accomplish the same task. ### Who We Are Looking For We are particularly interested in developers/designers who have experience with: * Fashion * Apparel * Streetwear * Footwear * Lifestyle brands * Independent labels * Premium consumer brands * Editorial-style Shopify stores You do not need to be the least expensive candidate. We are evaluating candidates primarily on: **design judgment, Shopify competence, communication, maintainability, technical integrity, portfolio quality, and understanding of the brand.** ### To Apply Please do **not** send a generic proposal. Begin your response with **“Perspective is not a template.”** so we know you have read the project description. Then please provide: 1. **Three LIVE Shopify stores** in apparel, fashion, footwear, accessories, lifestyle, or another strongly brand-led consumer category that you personally designed or developed. 2. For each example, briefly explain exactly what you personally handled. 3. Tell us whether you work independently or use employees/subcontractors. 4. Explain your experience with Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 5. Tell us whether you can create new reusable Shopify sections/blocks when the selected theme does not provide something the design requires. 6. Explain whether you primarily use native Shopify sections or rely on page builders such as PageFly. 7. Describe your experience with Printful and/or Printify. 8. Briefly describe your normal development and QA process. 9. Tell us how you handle client handoff and training. 10. Based only on this project description, tell us **which Shopify theme you would initially consider for Perspective 8 and why.** The final question is particularly important. We are not simply looking for someone who knows Shopify. We are looking for someone who can understand what Perspective 8 is trying to become and make thoughtful decisions about how Shopify should serve that vision.
