Short-Form Video Editor / Creative Producer — Premium Voiceover Education Campaign

Summary

ABOUT THE PROJECT I'm Joe Cipriano, a longtime network television promo voice and voiceover educator. I'm creating a new series of short-form social commercials for my Promo Masterclass Series — professional training for voice actors who want to learn and work in television/streaming promo. I'm looking for more than a video editor. I'm looking for a creative producer/editor who can discover the story as well as edit it. The campaign will consist primarily of 30–60 second vertical videos for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other social platforms. We already have the core marketing concepts and messaging. What I need is someone with excellent creative instincts who can go into the extensive library of existing course material, identify compelling moments, and turn those moments into sophisticated, attention-grabbing short-form content. IMPORTANT: YOU'LL BE FINDING THE SOURCE MATERIAL I will provide access to a number of completed, inactive online course workbooks from students who have graduated from the program. These contain a rich library of existing material, including: • Student video and audio • Students working through lessons and assignments • Multiple student reads and attempts • My individual video/audio coaching and responses to students • The progression of students through the program • Course pages and the visual learning environment I am NOT looking for an editor who expects me to identify and hand over every clip to use. A major part of this assignment is source discovery. You'll review the available course material, find the moments that best tell our story, and recommend how those moments can be assembled into compelling short-form commercials. In other words: You don't just edit the story. You help FIND the story. That producer/editor mindset is extremely important to me. THE STYLE These should NOT feel like generic talking-head Reels. The finished pieces can combine: • Authentic student moments discovered within the course material • Student video and audio • Moments from my individual coaching responses • Course/interface visuals • Close-ups and crops of the learning experience • Motion graphics and kinetic typography • Music and sound design • Strong hooks and pacing • Occasional new appearances from me when needed • Branded end cards and calls to action Some course material is proprietary and cannot be revealed publicly. Part of the creative challenge will be finding visually interesting ways to show the depth and experience of the program without exposing protected scripts or course content. THE CREATIVE CHALLENGE All three levels of my program — Intro to Promos, The Promo Masterclass and the postgraduate Level Up program — use an asynchronous coaching model. Students work on their own schedule and at their own pace, but I personally listen to and coach their individual work throughout the process. The existing course material actually documents this process. I want someone who can go into that material and discover the moments that SHOW the audience how the experience works rather than simply having me explain it to camera. We need to make concepts like individualized coaching, self-paced learning, repetition, improvement and total immersion visually interesting and immediately understandable in under a minute. WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR You should be excellent at: • Short-form social video editing • Creative producing / story producing • Reviewing raw material and identifying compelling moments • Visual storytelling • Instagram Reels / TikTok / YouTube Shorts • Motion graphics and kinetic typography • Music and sound design • Working with testimonial and educational footage • Creating strong hooks • Building stories from existing source material • Maintaining attention without over-editing • Creating a consistent branded visual identity across an entire campaign Experience with premium educational brands, entertainment, advertising, documentary/story producing or personal brands would be particularly interesting. INITIAL SELECTION PROCESS I'm looking for the right creative partner for this campaign, so I expect to narrow the applicants to a small number of finalists. Selected finalists may be invited to complete a small PAID creative exercise using a limited sample of course material. This will NOT be a finished commercial. The purpose is to see how you approach source material, identify compelling moments and find the story. From that process, I expect to select ONE creative producer/editor for a $500 paid proof-of-concept video, approximately 30–45 seconds. If we work well together and love the result, the next phase would be developing the reusable visual identity for the campaign and producing approximately 5–10 additional short-form videos, with the possibility of ongoing work. WHEN YOU APPLY Please send me: 1. Three examples of short-form work YOU personally edited or produced that are closest to what I've described. Please don't send a giant general portfolio — show me the three pieces you think demonstrate that you're right for this project. 2. Tell me briefly what you personally did on each piece. 3. Have you ever been given a large amount of raw footage/content and been responsible for finding the story yourself, rather than simply editing from a client's shot list? Please give me an example. 4. Do you consider yourself primarily an editor, or do you also work as a creative producer/story producer? And finally: In two or three sentences, tell me how you would approach several hours of existing student/coaching material and turn it into a compelling 30–45 second social commercial without exposing proprietary course content. I'm asking because I'm not simply looking for someone who knows how to operate editing software. I'm looking for someone who knows how to recognize a story when they see one.
