Short-Form Video Editor + Motion Designer
Worldwide
’m looking for an editor and motion designer to turn The Bag’s static editorial graphics into polished Instagram Reels. Each video will be 90 seconds or less and delivered in 9:16 vertical format. I’ll appear on camera for portions of the video explaining the story, with the rest built around voiceover and animated versions of the graphics. The graphics are already designed and contain the visual concept, research and information. Your job is to bring them to life through strong editing, motion design, animation and sound. The finished videos should feel like WSJ meets Complex: intelligent, culturally fluent, visually sharp and premium. I do not want floating-head videos, generic social-media templates, karaoke captions, excessive transitions or random B-roll used to fill time. What You’ll Do Edit vertical Instagram Reels using provided on-camera footage and voiceover Move cleanly between full-screen footage of me and animated graphic sequences Deconstruct static graphics into individual scenes and visual moments Animate charts, numbers, arrows, diagrams, photographs, typography and other graphic elements Use motion to reveal information in the same order it is explained Create depth and movement from static artwork using After Effects Add music and detailed sound design that strengthen the pacing Color-correct footage recorded in different locations Maintain a consistent visual identity across every video Help develop reusable treatments for headlines, statistics, sources and The Bag branding Deliver quick, reliable turnarounds on a recurring basis Visual Approach The original graphic should remain the foundation of the video. Every visual, animation and edit should directly support what is being explained. Do not use generic stock footage or unrelated B-roll to cover edits or fill time. The visuals should come from: My on-camera footage The original graphic and its individual elements Relevant photographs, documents, charts or source material provided for the story Additional material that is directly connected to the subject If additional visual material is needed, flag it rather than inserting filler. Motion should help viewers understand the story. Charts should build, numbers should be emphasized, connections should be traced and graphic elements should appear when they become relevant. The goal is not to make everything move constantly. What I’ll Provide Final script On-camera footage and voiceover Completed static graphic Layered design files when available Research and source material Editorial direction and feedback What I’m Looking For Advanced After Effects skills Strong short-form editing and storytelling instincts Experience animating editorial graphics, data visualizations and typography Ability to create premium motion from static Photoshop or Illustrator artwork Strong understanding of pacing, music and sound design Good judgment about when animation helps and when the frame should remain still Ability to make complex information clear without making it feel corporate Experience delivering polished 9:16 social video Ability to accommodate 24-hour turnarounds Strong communication and organized project management This is not a role for someone whose work is primarily podcast clips, automatic captions or template-driven Reels. I’m looking for someone with a strong editorial eye who can make a static visual story feel dynamic without overwhelming the information. Turnaround Ability to deliver a first cut within 24 hours of receiving all materials Clear communication if timing or required assets create a delay Capacity to handle recurring videos each month Deliverables One finished video of 90 seconds or less 9:16 vertical format 1080 × 1920 resolution Clean final export without Instagram interface elements Captioned and non-captioned versions when requested Organized project files with linked assets Reasonable revision rounds To Apply Please send: Three examples that best demonstrate your editing and motion-design ability At least one example involving data, editorial design or complex information A short explanation of how you would approach animating one of the attached graphics Your rate per finished video Confirmation that you can accommodate 24-hour turnarounds How many videos you can complete per week The strongest candidates will be invited to complete a paid test using one existing The Bag graphic and provided footage.
